Mr. Gearlds' Corner

Happy Friday and Happy New Year ECC Family! We've had a great week of action as we transitioned back from a 2-week break. Much of this week was spent going over CORE (Civility-Order-Respect-Excellence) activities. After each break we spend time refreshing our scholars on expectations inside the classroom, in the gym, library, cafeteria, hallways, and restrooms. The scholars did an amazing job getting back in the groove of school.

You should have received your child's report cards today. Please know that at the PreK and Elementary levels the M, P, and N's are fluid, therefore, they may change from day to day as scholars make progress with the indicators. That being said, if you see that your scholar has a P or N, please do not be too alarmed at this time. Some indicators might have just been introduced prior to the end of the quarter, therefore, we will continue to hit those indicators this quarter. If you have questions about report cards, please contact your child's teacher as soon as possible.

Idling cars in the "Safety Zone". The MSD Warren Township has a policy that states vehicles are not allowed to "idle" while in safety zones of schools. With that said, please make sure all vehicles are turned off while you are dropping off. The exhaust fumes are harmful to the bodies of the children and adults who are assisting outside. I know it's tough on those colder days, however, we will do our best to keep the process moving as fast as we can. Thank you in advance for your attention to this policy.

Is your scholar returning to PreK next year? If so, please reserve his/her spot next week. Our spots are filling up for the 2016-2017 school year now. On My Way Families, you too, may go ahead and reserve your spot. A $50 deposit is needed at the time for enrollment. This fee will go towards your first month's tuition.

This semester will fly by before you know it! We will be keeping the action moving and hot as we continue to personalize and increase the rigor of our curriculum to the scholars. Those that will be moving on to Kindergarten next year will start to take part in some transition activities in the coming weeks.

Thank you for your continued support towards the Warren Early Childhood Center. As great as 2015 was... we are looking for an even better 2016!

Yours in education,

Mr. Gearlds

Bring at least two bags of clothes, household items, books, or toys to any Goodwill location. You can donate larger items too. Please use our school name when donating. The top school will win a celebration.

ECC Reading Challenge-

Our goal at the Warren Early Childhood Center is to create a "family of readers" by encouraging each family to spend at least 15-minutes per night (Monday-Friday) reading stories. A great time to accomplish might be 15-minutes prior to bed time as you begin to wind down the day and create a calming atmosphere at the house. You may include older siblings during this process and give them the opportunity to read to the younger siblings. Please continue to complete the monthly reading log and return each month. Scholars get to take a visit to the Treasure Box with a completed Reading Log!
