2021 PRE-K TEXTBOOK ADOPTION
DUE TO COVID RESTRICTIONS, REGION 6 HAS CANCELED THE PREVIOUSLY SCHEDULED PRE-K TEXTBOOK SHOWCASE. IN AN EFFORT TO LIMIT UNNECESSARY CONTACT, TEA HAS PROVIDED A WEBSITE TO DIGITALLY VIEW THE PREKINDERGARTEN SAMPLE MATERIALS. PLEASE ACCESS THE FOLLOWING WEBSITE: Proclamation 2021 Pre-Adoption Samples.
IN ADDITION, SAMPLES ARE ON DISPLAY AT ESC 6. IN ORDER TO VIEW THESE SAMPLES, AN APPOINTMENT MUST BE MADE IN ADVANCE. BECAUSE THE VIEWING ROOMS ARE VERY SMALL, ONLY ONE PERSON PER SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT WILL BE ADMITTED.

EARLY CHILDHOOD PROFESSIONAL DEV. OPPORTUNITIES SPRING 2021
- JANUARY 26TH- PRE-K MATH PART 1- A RECORDED VIRTUAL SESSION
This session is day 1 of the 2 part series for reviewing math readiness expectations in the Pre-K Guidelines. Participants will enjoy an in-depth look at each expected math outcome and learn strategies and activities for teaching the first two pre-k math domains: counting skills, adding to/taking away skills. These activities will be linked to math lessons, math learning centers, circle time, small group meetings, read-alouds, and classroom transitions.

- FEBRUARY 11TH- TIPS FOR MANAGING STUDENT BEHAVIOR IN THE EARLY CHILDHOOD CLASSROOM- A RECORDED VIRTUAL SESSION

- FEBRUARY 23RD- PRE-K MATH- PART 2 - A RECORDED VIRTUAL SESSION
This workshop is a continuation of Pre-Kindergarten Math - Part 1 . However, participants may attend this workshop with or without having attended Part 1. Participants will review math readiness expectations in the Pre-K Guidelines and will continue learning strategies and activities for teaching geometry, measurement, classification, and patterning skills in the pre-k classroom. Participants will learn to incorporate these skills during circle time, math learning centers, small group meetings, read-alouds, and classroom transitions.

- MARCH 4TH AND APRIL 1ST- C.I.R.C.L.E. TRAINING- A LIVE VIRTUAL TWO DAY TRAINING
This essential two-day training is based on the most recent scientific literacy research and meets the needs of adult learners who work with young children. This training is interactive and provides fun, hands-on activities, which teachers can immediately take back and implement in their classrooms. Each participant receives a manual containing valuable resources. Components include Best Practices, Language Development, Letter Knowledge, Phonological Awareness, Written Expression, Reading Aloud, and Print and Book Awareness.

- MARCH 24TH- PHONOLOGICAL AWARENESS SKILLS-WHAT'S THE BIG DEAL? -
A RECORDED VIRTUAL SESSION
Phonological Awareness is a broad term that includes identifying and manipulating units of oral language, such as parts of words, syllables and onsets, and rimes. Learn why a deficit in these skills can contribute to reading difficulties, and determine what you can do to help students develop these critical skills.

- APRIL 13TH- THE BIG FIVE COMPONENTS OF READING: LAYING A SOLID FOUNDATION FOR READING SUCCESS- A RECORDED VIRTUAL SESSION
This workshop will focus on the foundational skills necessary for developing proficiency in reading. Participants will learn how each of the five components: phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension play an integral part in the developmental and cognitive reading abilities of each student.
