CELEBRATE ADVENTURES: A PIRATE'S NEW NORMAL
CELEBRATE 'TRY THIS TECH'
"Try This Tech" Week 1: Just a little nugget. Try setting up a meeting in Zoom. A suggestion is to try setting it up and including myself or your teacher partner and see how it goes! Of course there are several ways to do this task; the video of yours truly offers one of the ways you can do this. Click here for the video. This link and the steps are also shared on the MS PD Google Classroom site.
What Pirate doesn't dig the stretch zone? Arrrgh!
ANNOUNCEMENTS
STAFF ONLY:
Zoom & Google Meet: Zoom and Google Meet sessions with kids CANNOT be recorded or shared. Please plan accordingly.
Family Email on Codes: Please copy/paste or share a message similar to Anzelc's (went out last week) regarding class codes for Google Classrooms and Flipgrids with families so they have a reference point. This email should be separate from other information.
Teacher Office Hours: Please add your office hours and how families can connect with you during those office hours to your (1) teacher website, (2) pg 9 of distance learning doc.
Teacher Tech: Teachers! Do you have issues with your laptop? Do you need support, modeling, or tips with how to use tech platforms and tools? We have a form for that! Please fill this out should you need support and one of us will get back to you. We also have a tutorial started for staff. View here.
Calendar Items: Please delete any calendar items for the remainder of the year that no longer apply.
Distance Learning: All things processes, procedures and tools are available on the distance learning guide. You are responsible for knowing the expectations that are shared within it. It was last updated Sat 3/28 with new information.
Counseling Team: The counseling team is ready to support students, families and YOU! Please email or text us any time. Brinks just had a baby so for the first few weeks make sure you add T on any communication you send to him about your kiddos. If a student or family would like to chat with us please see the counseling information provided in the 'parents & families' section. The link provided mimics the counseling form that is in all of the classrooms on campus and can be used by students or families and is available on our website.
Access to Tech: Please complete your access to your Google Classroom and Flipgrids (if you're on flipgrid) so we can check each other's progress out and so Advisors can use it to share info with parents.
Enrichment: Did you know? Enrichment will continue, in a special way of course! Enrichment plans will be shared by J Penn each week. The plans will be shared at the end of each week intended to be shared the following Monday. Enrichment is optional and the focus will continue to be on enriching learning opportunities. The first plan will be shared April 3. Because of how Google Classes are set up, the enrichment class lesson will need to be shared via Advisory Google Classroom. Please plan to add these accordingly.
Announcements: Hey all! The family and student announcements will still need to be shared with kiddos. Please plan to add these to your Advisory Google Classroom in your feed section each week. If you're really excited about tech, feel free to read them off via video on the feed.
Summer Session: Summer session is currently TBD. At this point we have the amazing Kelsey and Charlton on deck for teaching incoming 7th and 8th graders for English and math, should we proceed with classes. Summer session is a mix of a) review of concepts , b) preview of ones to come in the beginning of the year, and c) fun factor and relationship building. For now you can hold on entering student information on the list.
PARENTS & FAMILIES:
- Activities: As shared in our family letter from March 20, all activities have been cancelled through the end of the school year. One exception that is still to be determined is 8th grade promotion. You will be informed on next steps regarding this event. Next steps for DC and Science Camp trips are still a work in progress. You will also be informed on next steps regarding these events.
- Counseling Team: We care about your well-being. Click here to access information on counseling services or to request support during distance learning. Ms. Edwards or Mr. Brinkmann will be in touch with you regarding your request. Students and parents are encouraged to reach out as needed.
- Change to Student Email: In the past student's did not have access to their school email accounts. This has been changed to accommodate distance learning. This means that students now have access to email other students and teachers within NP3 and the district. Please plan to accommodate for changes and monitoring this may bring.
- 7th Tangerine Pick Up: All 7th grade students are reading “Tangerine”. Some families have their own copy of the book and some do not. Hard copies of “Tangerine” are available for pick up during the 7th grade pick up window on Wed 4/1 10:30-12:00pm. Pick up for “Tangerine” will be monitored by signing out the book number that was given to you.
- Packet Pick Up: If you do not yet have a device alternatives to online distance learning are available. More information on this is available in the note home from the weekend. For planning and organization purposes, please respond to the short questionnaire to RSVP your request to pick materials up for week 1 of distance learning. You do not need to complete the survey if you’re planning to partake in virtual/online distance learning.
