Principal's Message

Hello Hilton Families,

As we approach our 4th week of school, we look forward to establishing our routines and transitioning our energy toward academic pursuits. The school day requires considerable energy for young children, with their effort focused on thinking, learning and socializing. For this reason it is very important for students to get good rest, eat well and limit screen time in the evening before school.

Our school day begins at 8:47. If your child is a drop-off, it is extremely important to allow them plenty of time to get into the building. Children need time to put items in their locker, make their lunch selection and get mentally settled before they gather in their group. The start of the day is a very important time for their learning.

There is a general increase in anxiety with students, and as parents, you can help. See the information below for ideas to aid your child's independence and reduce anxiety.

PTO Meetings

The next PTO meeting will be held on October 16 at 2:30 pm. All parents of Hilton students are members of the PTO. Please join us to offer your support, ideas, and most important, to make this an amazing year for our students.

Every student will be participating in our 2nd annual Hound Dog Run. All students will receive a Hound Dog T shirt to wear the day of the run. Brighton Yoga Center is coming to do warm ups and cool downs with students before and after the run. Busch’s is providing a refreshing and healthy snack. Each student is encouraged to collect at least $30, which is due before or on September 28th. Below is a list of all the prizes that all students in each grade level will get to experience.

Parents and siblings are welcome to attend. Volunteers are also needed. Please visit MySchoolAnywhere for volunteer sign up and to submit donations https://www.myschoolanywhere.com/login.a5w.

Background Check

If you are planning to volunteer at school at all this year, BAS requires a background check. Here is the link to get that done:

Popcorn Friday (September 28)

The first Popcorn Friday will be held on September 28th. For $0.25 your child(ren) can purchase popcorn popped by Hilton’s parents during lunchtime. To volunteer, just visit https://www.myschoolanywhere.com/join.a5w.

Box Tops (September 28)

Please submit all your box tops that you have collected by September 28. You can send them to school in a plastic bag with your child’s name and teachers name on it. The class that submits the most Box Tops in September will win a free game of lazer tag at Zap Zone! In the past, money raised through this program financed the field trip transportation as well as granted up to $100 to each classroom for much needed supplies.

Toe Token Challenge (October 1 - 4)

The Toe Token Challenge is a fun way for the students to engage in physical activity during recess. By running or walking laps, students can earn “Toe Tokens” which can then be used for free popcorn on Popcorn Fridays. There will be prizes for one classroom from each grade that does the most laps at the end of the week. Have your children wear running shoes every day. Kroger Shoppers

Hilton is now enrolled in the Kroger Rewards Program. Please support the school by linking us to your Kroger Rewards Card. Our number is 68151 or you can just type our school name in the search window at https://www.kroger.com/communityrewards

Amazon Smile

How fun would it be to shop, while at the same time, earning money for our school? Amazon Smile (https://smile.amazon.com) is through Amazon.com, in which they donate money for most items purchased through their website. The fun part is that the website keeps a running total on your account to see how much money you donate to the school just by shopping with them. Check out this 30 second video to see how you can add a shortcut to your (mobile) home screen to ensure all your Amazon purchases benefit Hilton Elementary https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWgglu7ZCDE.
