PK 4.3 - Weekly Newsletter
Dear families,
This week we have been paying close attention to one very important skill we will need to cultivate in PK and for the rest of our years to come. We are learning about all the things we can do to make and keep friends. We know that as we go to another grade level we will be part of a whole new school family classroom with many new friends, teachers and activities. It will require a great deal of good choices and positive disposition to adapt to all these new changes that are awaiting around the corner.
Our children will be learning how important it is to have fun with friends and get along in a room full of children. So we will be reviewing skills of communication, such as communicating our needs and wants effectively, taking turns, sharing, placing ourselves in other people’s shoes and being respectful towards others. As we learn to accept and understand our similarities and differences we become more tolerant and more amazed by the beauty of diversity.
Part of learning is reflecting on the things we have learned, the things that have changed over time. Our children had a chance to discuss what they were like when they first came to PK and identify the things they could not do and know they have mastered.
We have been reinforcing how to notice rhymes and using writing to express our ideas. We have also been comparing our names and noticing the vowels that are in them and we have been able to represent that information into a graph!
There has also been a lot of rehearsing going on as we prepare for our end of the year ceremony. We are working hard to make our show something you will truly enjoy!
Objectives of the Week:
- Compares and measures
- Demonstrates knowledge of the alphabet
- Demonstrates phonological awareness
- Demonstrates number concepts and operations
- Participates cooperatively and constructively in group situations
Have a wonderful weekend!

GETTING READY FOR KINDERGARTEN
Everyone had a nice time on Bring a Bear Day and we'll have 9 more days and ways to have fun before our last day of school!
Also, and this was probably a first one for most of them- we went to have lunch in the ES Cafeteria and guess who were the ones in charge of warming up their food in the microwave??? ;)

Color-CYCLE!
What it is …
ISP’s Elementary School is participating in a new recycling project, the Crayola Colour-cycle!
How it works …
Crayola is collecting old markers and recycling them by converting the old plastic into clean energy! For example, an 8 pack of old markers can produce enough energy to cook an egg, make 2 pieces of toast, and heat 2 cups of hot chocolate!
How we will participate …
We want to Elementary to participate in clean energy movement by recycling our old markers that don’t work anymore.
How you can help...
Please start collecting old markers from school and from your home, and save them in your classrooms.
