FJVD Weekly Info
We Live the Word!
From the Principal's Desk
Dear FJVD Families,
As Thanksgiving Break begins on Thursday, November 28th, this will be the last FJVD Weekly Info before the holiday. With this in mind, I wanted to take a moment to reflect upon a few of the many things I am thankful for here at FJVD:
Our Vibrant Community
Rarely does a week pass when there are not multiple events, athletic activities, and field trips scheduled. I am so grateful for the countless hours that volunteers, faculty, and staff pour into these events. We are blessed to have so many opportunities to come together as a community and celebrate what makes FJVD great!
Our Faculty & Staff
While I don't always quite make it, I try to visit each of our classrooms at least once per day. Almost without fail, this is the highlight of my day. Not only do I get to see our students working hard and having fun, I also get to witness the incredible creativity, passion, and expertise of our teachers. When I am asked what sets FJVD apart, our teaching staff is always at the top of the list!
Our Catholic Identity
This past Thursday, we held our annual Corpus Christi Procession (see photos below). It was a beautiful reminder that - as our verse for the year states - all that we do is truly rooted in Christ. He is the unseen but ever present teacher in our classrooms, and the model for our faculty, staff, and students.
Lastly, I am grateful for each of you and your continued support of and dedication to this school community. I pray that you and your families will enjoy a blessed and restful Thanksgiving break.

Important Reminders for the Winter Season:
- Please call the school when your child is absent and let us know the reason. This let's us know your child is safe at home with you. In addition, if your child has an illness that is contagious, such as strep throat, it is important that we are able to notify other parents that their child may have been exposed to an illness and to watch for signs & symptoms.
- Now that the COLD weather has arrived, please ensure your child has appropriate cold weather attire. So long as the temperature is considered safe, students will go outside for recess to get fresh air and play. The RI Department of Education states that outdoor recess should be 15-20 minutes (1-2 times a day) outside as long as the temperature is 32 degrees or above with the wind chill factored in.

Aluminum Can Tab Collection
What: Aluminum can tabs are being collected
Why: To support the Ronald McDonald House in Providence
How can you help? Save can tabs and send them in to Mr. Godin’s room.
Bottle Cap Drive
We’re excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This opens up
Father John V. Doyle School to new funding opportunities to help improve learning environments for students. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply send in bottle caps or product codes from boxes of beverages and our school receives a donation.
All caps and codes should be sent to Mr. Godin. Codes will be entered on one account to gain larger and quicker donations.
Thank you!
