Materials Pick-up & Return - May 26th & 27th

It's hard to believe that we are just three weeks away from the last day of our first school year at Loma Ridge. Although it has been an unconventional end to our school year and certainly not what we expected, we are proud of our roadrunner community and are excited to come together once again when the time comes. In the meantime, we need to make sure we're able to provide all of our students' personal items along with some materials from classroom teachers to our students while also collecting textbooks, library books and musical instruments loaned out through IUSD. Here's the plan.

DATES: Tuesday, May 26th & Wednesday, May 27th

TIMES: 9:00 am - 2:00 pm

WHERE: Side Parking Lot: kinder & 1st grade

Front Parking Lot: second, third & fourth grades

Each student will have materials to be retrieved. We will have the materials bagged and labeled on tables labeled with each teacher's name in the appropriate parking lot in order for you to drive up and pick up your child's materials. We will also have a table labeled for textbook return, library book return and musical instrument return so that you can pull up and drop off those items. If you have medication to pick up from the health office, please watch your email for instructions from our school nurse and health assistant. They will have the medications available for pick-up on these dates as well.

GUIDELINES

  • If possible, please do not bring your children with you. If that is not possible, please make sure they stay in the car and that you are the one returning and retrieving the materials.
  • Please wait in your car until you are able to pull up to the table without coming into contact with another parent. This practice will ensure that we achieve six feet of social distance.
  • We will have hand sanitizer available on each table and appreciate you wearing a mask.
  • Tables will be set up by 9:00 am each morning and pulled inside the building at 2:00 pm when staff leaves for the day. Please adhere to these hours and let us know if you have extenuating circumstances that necessitate you picking up the materials on another day during our regular office hours of 8:00-2:00.

Thank you so much for your cooperation!

Loma Ridge "Guess the Staff Member Baby" Challenge

We have LOVED seeing all of our roadrunners that have participated in our weekly campaigns since the start of EDL. We have recently seen our roadrunner moms with their roadrunners the week of Mother's Day and this week we've gotten to see what activities put our roadrunners in the green zone! It's been so fun to learn new things about our roadrunners during these campaigns. Thank you for your participation!

We are excited to start our next campaign. See the details in the flier below and don't forget to tag @lomaridgeiusd in your posts along with #lomastaffbabychallenge. We can't wait to see if you can figure out who the babies are this week on social media!

IUSD Grab-and-Go Meal Program

Nutrition Services is providing free breakfasts and lunches to any IUSD student who needs them on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the same locations and hours of service that have been in place since the beginning of EDL (see iusd.org for more information on locations and times.) The meals provided on Monday will include meals for Monday and Tuesday, meals provided on Wednesday will include meals for Wednesday and Thursday, with meals provided on Friday for that day. This change was made to reduce parent trips and better align our practices with the principles of social distancing.

IUSD Mental Health and Wellness Supports & Resources

The outbreak of COVID-19 can result in various forms of stress, especially for students who may be struggling to process all of the implications of this health challenge and the impact of social distancing. IUSD’s Prevention and Intervention team, as part of the District’s Speak Up We Care initiative, has developed resources that may be helpful for students and families. This includes information about available IUSD supports, how to talk with children and teens about COVID-19, community mental health providers and resources, maintaining a sense of connection, and other healthy practices. Our staff will continue to be actively engaged with students both academically and in support of social-emotional wellness. More than ever, it is critical that our students sustain a sense of hope, confidence, and optimism. Click here to learn more.

Stay connected by following us on social media and by posting images of your roadrunner with #LRdistancelearning.
