St Bernadette's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 2 | WEEK 10 | 1 July 2022
Message from Geordie
Dear Parents,
WOW! What a fantastic week we have had here at St Bernie’s! All our Pre-Primary to Year 6 students were treated to an awesome Science Show on Monday as part of our Science Week celebrations and I thank Mrs Murphy again for all her hard work over the past few weeks.
In some exciting staffing news, I am happy to welcome Tracy Cosgrove to our St Bernie’s Leadership Team next term. Tracy is an enthusiastic and passionate educator who will be replacing Mel Resuggan from Week 3 of next term. Tracy has been working as a middle/upper primary teacher and Assistant Principal at Star of the Sea in Rockingham and will be leading the Upper Primary Cluster. We can’t wait to welcome her into our awesome community.
On Tuesday, we had Tony from EIW Architects out to run follow up sessions about the direction and progress of our schools Masterplan. These sessions were run with students, staff and parents and some of the ideas and feedback we received was very useful. I would particularly like to thank the staff who made the time in the afternoon and the parents who made the time on Tuesday evening as we got some valuable ideas that we will use in developing our first draft, due to the School Advisory Council at the next meeting in Week 3 of Term 3. So far, the feedback has been really positive from all our focus groups, and I look forward to sharing the plan once completed.
On Thursday our Year 5 and 6 cohorts participated in the Interschool Winter Sports Carnival with students competing in footy, soccer, netball, and volleyball. Yet again, our students represented the school with pride and had a lot of fun too! I received some amazing feedback from students and parents and a great day was had by all. One big highlight for me was hearing that while accepting the winners shield, a Mater Christi student gave a ‘shout out’ to our Bernie’s students for their sportsmanship and spirit during their match! This is what sport is all about and I am very proud of all our students! A big thanks to all the teachers and parents who helped out and supported our students.
As a final day celebration, our students had a Pyjama and Popcorn Day today which has been a lot of fun and a nice way to end the term. Thanks to the parents who popped the popcorn in the Kindy room today, the smell was amazing!
I hope everyone has a really lovely holiday and finds some time to recharge the batteries before jumping into another great term.
Take it easy and stay safe!
I hope you all enjoy the weekend.

A message from Melanie Resuggan
Thank you to all the families for making the past 18 months so fabulous. I have really appreciated the support and kind words from the students, parents and staff at St Bernie's. I am looking forward to the challenge of running a school, which will be made a little easier with the support of St Bernie's Jesseca Francis as my AP.
Best wishes to all the families for a restful break and a fantastic finish to the school year. Once again thank you for being so welcoming in my time here.
Kind regards
Mel
