Remember, it is your responsibility to purchase or rent required college textbooks and pay materials fees. You can view this information through your websmart account. (https://websmart.smccd.edu/) Most courses post required textbook information about two weeks prior to the beginning of the semester-just keep checking.

Concurrently enrolled students must regularly check their my.smccd.edu email. You will receive a login for Canvas through this email. Please log into Canvas and regularly check for information from your college professor. Most professors begin posting important information over the Christmas break.

Apex and Google Classroom Assignments

Remember, the first semester ends on December 21st, 2017. If you are behind on your assignments, please spend time in our classroom so you have a quiet place to focus.

Parents, feel free to email me if you would like an update on your student's current progress.

Optional Donation Opportunity

Some students mentioned that they would like to put together a package of supplies for troops serving overseas. It just so happens that my nephew Brian is in Afghanistan. I will be sending him a package after we return from the Thanksgiving holiday. Whatever we send will be used by his platoon and other soldiers who are on his base. Feel free to contribute if you would like to do so. The holidays are an especially hard time for soldiers and any kind of support from home means so much to them.

I will collect items the week after Thanksgiving and mail it on Saturday, December 2nd.

There is no pressure to contribute!!!

Items needed include:

Hygiene Supplies- Shaving Cream, razors, shampoo, bar soap, baby wipes, foot powder

Powder that be added to water to give it some flavor

Jerky

Hard Candies

Any non bulky snack food that travels well

Personal letters thanking soldiers for their service

Final Thoughts

We all know that the holidays and constant stream of disheartening news can take its toll. It is a good time to take notice of the goodness in people you encounter, and to treat one another with kindness and patience. A kind word, quick smile, or words of appreciation can make all of the difference. We all have the capacity to do this for each other.
