Flat Family Weekly News
October 10 - 14
We are up to something good at Hickory Flat!
Happy Sunday!
The Flat Family News this week has important information, including:
Boosterthon: We are raising money to improve common areas for students like the Media Center, Gym, and more!
- Our goal is to receive partners from 40 states! We are on our way there...thank you for helping us by reaching out to friends and families and sharing your child's class code!
- October 17: Dancing Through the Decades! (Students may dress from their favorite decade) DanceFit will occur during Specials class time; we will not have visitors for this event. We will, however, share videos via social media throughout the day.
Trunk or Treat: Check out the details for the upcoming Trunk or Treat event, hosted by our amazing PTO.
THIS WEEK:
- Monday & Tuesday: Join us for a Union Grove Cluster Training for Parents. East Lake Elementary, Timber Ridge Elementary, and Hickory Flat Elementary are teaming up with our HCS Technology team to share our newest parent platform, Henry Connects: Family Edition with learning resources for use at home. See details below and make plans to attend.
- Friday is an Early Release Day: This Friday is an Early Release Day. Student dismissal will begin at 11:15 a.m. (please note updated time from previous newsletter). Please make sure to communicate your child's transportation plan with using the form that has been sent home.
Let's make this a great week at Hickory Flat!

1st Grade is Learning About Landforms
Maybe a fun topic for family dinner: if you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

DID YOU KNOW?
Bus SafetyStudent behavior expectations on the bus are no different than they are in the classroom. However, because there is limited supervision (the driver must focus on the road), we have seen a spike in bus referrals. In the coming weeks, you will be seeing our “Know the Code” campaign materials. Please read the code and consequences of our most common behavior referrals and talk about these with your student. Student safety is our top priority and we need your help to reinforce positive choices on the bus. | UniformsStudents should wear uniforms Monday - Thursday each week. Click here for more details. Student choice of appropriate clothing is allowed each Friday. | Early Release Day: October 14 Students will be dismissed from school at 11:15 a.m. Make plans now for transportation and childcare. (Bus transportation is available. Please remember: students ages 9 and under require an adult to be present) |
