Message from Mrs. Langston
Monday 2/1/21 Remote Learning Day
Today we will have a Remote Learning Day due to Inclement Weather. Please carefully view our schedule for tomorrow below this week's announcements!
Assessment Update, Conferences, and Report Cards
We had our Math STAR Assessment and both the Reading and Math Check Ins this week. When we receive the results of the Check Ins, we will have a good indication of what standards have been successfully met. I will be setting up phone and zoom conferences next week to discuss your student's progress and other recent assessments.
Snacks and Cleansing Wipes Needed
After lunch, students clean their desks and wash their hands. Our class is in great need of cleansing/sanitizing wipes.
Multiplication and Extra Math Practice
At this point in the fourth grade year, practicing multiplication facts and constantly reviewing our math curriculum is strongly encouraged. I recommend practicing 10 minutes on multiplication and 20 minutes on the Fourth Grade Math Review Smore located below.
We are also in need of snacks. Each student must bring a snack if they would like one for our 2:00 snack time each day. We welcome extras for those who forget.
Learning Goals for the Week
ELA: Vocabulary and Reading
I can determine meaning of general academic and domain-specific words or phrases in a text relevant to a grade 4 topic or subject area.
Math: Fractions
I can explain why a fraction is equivalent to another fraction by using area and length fraction models, with attention to how the number and size of the parts differ even though the two fractions themselves are the same size.
*We will continue to review division using the partial quotient method.
Social Studies: Government
I can learn the chronology of key historical events in North Carolina history; understand how and why North Carolina was established; explain how people, events and developments brought about changes to communities in various regions of North Carolina.
Multiplication Practice Always Needed
I'm done! Now what?
