Dear Families:
Friday's field trip to see Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was a huge success. Your students were responsible and safe as we traveled to downtown Berkeley, and they were exceptionally respectful during the show. I loved watching their faces as during the show. So many giggles! So much delight! (They will be happy to know that I have the soundtrack in class, and I intend to play it frequently!)
Our next trip will be to the Asian Art Museum in SF, on January 28th. More information to follow in January!
Many thanks to the amazing chaperones who joined us on Friday! Thank you Arturo (Ray), Rosie (Eleanor), Shannon (Tuesday), Rita (Ezra), Ariel (Charles), Mina and Jason (Uzi), and Jenn (Zachary). Your help made the trip possible!
We have real (not plastic) book bags! Hurray! On Thursday, Christina (Zoe) led the charge in our students designing their own book bags. They will go home for the first time this Monday! Thank you Christina!
Tardies:
I've noticed that our class tends to trickle in slowly in the mornings. It is very important that your students arrive at school on time. It can be hard (especially for first graders) to arrive late, and enter the classroom after instruction has begun. The first bell rings at 8:12, my goal is for all of us to be walking to our classroom at 8:15 am each day.
Our winter party will be held on Friday, December 18th. We will begin at 12:30. Students will be crafting, cooking and singing! Sign ups for volunteers will follow shortly. Please join us for a fun celebration of winter traditions.
Pokemon Cards:
Pokemon cards are not allowed at school. Please do not allow your student to bring pokemon cards to school. They are very distracting to our classroom learning environment.
If you have any questions or concerns, please email me at: susannereed@berkeley.net
Thank you,
Susanne Reed
