- Work with other professionals, social workers and clinic psychiatrist.
- Psychiatrist can prescribe medicine if they need to.
- A state medical license is required.
- Psychiatrist also work with people who abuse alcohol or drugs.
- 17% of doctors including psychiatrist are self employed.

What you need to do to succeed in this career?
Taking advanced core classes are highly recommended. For English Language Arts your offered English language arts 2 and 3, Advanced placement english language and composition. For math advanced classes you can take; Accelerated geometry and trigonometry, advanced placement statistics, advanced placement calculus AB and Precalculus. For science your offered; Physical Science and advance biology, chemistry, advanced chemistry and advance placement chemistry. Social studies Advanced classes you can take are, Advanced placement United States history and Advanced placement United States government and politics. Taking a foreign language is also recommended.

Your required to taking biology, chemistry and genetics physics. Taking medicine classes will also help but you'll need to be trained for 11 years. You'll also need at least your masters degree. Many psychiatrist take a few years off before going back to school and getting their docterates degree.
