Covering And Surrounding
Study Guide Review
Unit Description
In this unit we learned how to find the perimeter ,area, surface and volume. We talked about the outside and the inside of the shapes. And we also did a bumper car, dog cage, and storm shelter activity. We created nets in order to find the surface area of three dimensional shapes. Finally we took an empty box and filled it with centimeter blocks to find the volume of the rectangular prism.
What is perimeter?
Perimeter is the outside of a shape. Perimeter is measured in units.
Perimeter = add all sides
What is area?
Area is the inside of a shape. Area is measured in square units.
Area of Rectangle Prim = 2(S+S) + 2(F+BK) + 2(T+B)
Area of Triangle = base*height divided by 2
Area of Parallelogram = Base*height
What is surface area?
Surface area is the total area of the surface of a 3D shape. Surface area is measured in square units.
Surface Area of Pyramid = (L*W)+4(l*W) divide by 2
Surface Area of Rectangular Prism =2(S+S) + 2(F+BK) + 2(T+B)
Volume
What is volume?
Volume is the space inside a 3-D shape. Volume is measured in cubic units.
Volume of Rectangular Prism = L*W*H
