Principal Update
As we reflect upon the achievements and growth within our school community, I feel a deep sense of gratitude that I wish to extend to each and every one of you. Your unwavering support has been the cornerstone of our success, and this collaborative spirit is what defines our Moran Prairie family. From partnerships with teachers to support students in achieving their goals to leading extracurriculars to supporting our PTG to volunteering in our school in a variety of ways.
The partnership between our staff, families, and community members has created a nurturing environment where our students flourish. Your involvement in school events, commitment to open communication, and enthusiasm for the educational journey of our children make a significant impact each and every day. Together, we are shaping not just students, but future leaders and contributors to society. Thank you for your continued trust, involvement, and belief in the transformative power of education. We look forward to continuing this journey together and building an even brighter future for our students.
We will not have a newsletter next week, so my sincerest hope is that your holiday (and short break!) is filled with joy, gratitude, and warmth.
Ongoing Reminders
- Chocolate milk update! Due to the national cardboard shortage, SPS is unable to order chocolate milk for the foreseeable future. We are currently out and only have plain milk!
- It's getting colder and colder! In addition to sending students to school with appropriate clothing for being outside, we are also in the season of possible school closures or delays. To learn more about the process and how this is communicated, visit the district webpage here.
- Wondering when to keep your sick student home? Find information and recommendations at the district webpage here.
Interested in running an after-school club? Parents and/or community members who run afterschool programs are hired and paid for their time. Let Ms. Hellenthal know what kind of club you want to run (follow your passions!) and we'll get you set up!
- Thank you for continuing to park in other spots in the lot rather than in our bus and Zum zones. We appreciate your attention to this!

Counselor Corner
In this round of counselor lessons, we are learning about the difference between tattling and reporting. Tattling is telling an adult when the situation is safe and the student can handle it by trying Kelso's Choices. Reporting is letting trusted adults know when a situation is not safe and someone is sick, hurt or in danger. Students have been practicing identifying situations which would be tattling and situations that would be important to report to an adult.
Blue Bin Donations
We continue to seek donations to our blue bin from Northwest Center. Northwest Center works To promote the growth, development and independence of people with disabilities through programs of therapy, education and work opportunity. Families and others can donate any clothing items by placing them in the blue bin by the bike racks. These donations are picked up regularly and go directly to those served by the center!
