Falcon Ridge Family Updates

News and Tidbits
Thank you for helping ensure that our first week of school was such a success! We saw so many smiles on the faces of our students.
This year's theme is "How Full is Your Bucket." We are learning ways to be bucket fillers through words and actions that demonstrate kindness and compassion.
Our character trait for September is respect, which means "a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements."
Please familiarize yourself with the student handbook (see below) for attendance procedures, dress code, sick policy, etc. Remember to call or email the office with the reason for your student's absence by 9am. If your child needs prescription medication administered at school, please contact the school office.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jorgensen

Before School Procedure
Self-Screening: If a student or staff member has any of the following symptoms, it indicates a possible illness that puts them at risk of spreading illness to others.
Symptoms requiring a student or staff member to stay home
A temperature of 100.0 degrees F or higher. Students and staff need to be fever free without the use of fever reducing medication for at least 24 hours before attending school.
Vomiting
Diarrhea
Sore throat with a fever greater than 100.0°. If they are diagnosed with Strep throat, then they should stay home until they have been on antibiotics for 24 hours.
Excessive coughing, which could include a cough that is prolonged, lasting more than a few weeks; any shortness of breath; difficulty breathing or wheezing; cough associated with fever, chills, sweating, or ill appearance; chest pain or painful cough; coughing up phlegm that is green, yellow, blood-stained, or foul smelling.
Pink Eye (Conjunctivitis). Keep the child home until a doctor has given the OK to return to school. Pink eye is highly contagious and in most cases is caused by a virus, which will not respond to an antibiotic. Bacterial conjunctivitis will require an antibiotic; your doctor will be able to determine if this is the case.
Other symptoms where students or staff members may need to stay at home
New uncontrolled cough that causes difficulty breathing or for students with chronic allergic/asthmatic cough, a change in their cough from baseline
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
Nausea
New onset of severe headache, especially with a fever
Parents and staff are expected to review these symptoms daily. It is up to the individual parent and staff member to determine if a person needs to stay home.
