A Message from our Principals
Our teachers have a busy day in front of them. Today, we are working on setting up parent conference schedules, learning more about our new students, setting student achievement, growth, and gap closing goals, meeting as teams to find more ways to support students’ executive functioning skills, preparing a one-stop-shop for parents to find all teachers’ agendas and more! Usually, most of a teacher’s day is spent with students, and we are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with each other and continue to grow our skills in service to our students and families.
We hope your student enjoys the gift of time today, as well.
Gratefully,
Your Principals,
Linda O’Bryan and John McEwing

Picture Day - UPDATED
REVISED: While virtual students will be prioritized for pictures whatever time they are able to be brought to school either on Wednesday, September 30 or Thursday, October 1, certain times have been set aside when no other in-person homerooms are scheduled, which will minimize the wait time for virtual students and parents. On Wednesday, September 30, virtual students will have minimal wait time both 8:15-9:00 and 11:00-1:30. On Thursday, October 1, minimal wait time will be 9:15-12:00. Regardless of the grade of your virtual student, parents can bring them to school either day for their pictures.
Virtual students should report to the main office when they come for pictures, where staff will direct them to their picture location. To minimize exposure, people accompanying our virtual students are welcome to wait either in the vestibule of the front entrance or under the overhang just outside the main entrance to meet their student after the picture is taken.
Pictures can be ordered online, now through October 8th Click Here, go to school search and use the drop down menu to select “Lake Denoon Middle School 2020-2021”. From there follow the instructions to complete picture ordering. Sports Pics will send your child’s picture order directly to your home.
Attendance
If your child will not be attending virtual learning for the day, please call the Student Services office (262) 971-1820 Ext. 7011 to report the absence. Attendance must be monitored and documented for all students, both in-person and those participating virtually. Please reference the following attendance school board policy and administrative guideline for further details/ information.
Infinite Campus Attendance Messaging
At the beginning of each month, you will receive an email from Infinite Campus detailing your student’s attendance for the current school year. All families will be receiving this email even if their child has not been absent from school. This email is intended to be a communication between school and home. If you have any questions or extenuating circumstances that impact your child’s attendance, please contact Amanda Rosman, School Social Worker at amanda.rosman@muskegonorway.org or 414-524-9117.
Appointments/Early Pick-ups for Students
Students who need to leave school during the school day must have written parental permission. Please have your student drop off the written excuse at the Student Services window first thing in the morning. By late morning, your child should stop back and a pass will be on the window ready for them. With this pass, the student can leave the classroom at the time they are to be picked up, and the office staff can avoid interrupting learning by calling into the rooms. Please do not email teachers with attendance. All attendance goes through Student Services.
