Teacher Appreciation Week
In my 24 years in education, I've never seen a team of teachers as strong as the team we have at Lakeview. This is a special place for kids. Nobody gives more, works harder, and cares more than the staff at Lakeview. Please take a few moments this week to let our staff know you appreciate them!
Mr. Sepersky, Principal
5th Grade Camp
The activities vary from year to year, but this year, students learned about bees, tested lake water and found lake critters under a microscope, practiced archery, played a team-building game called "blind hunter," learned how to Geocache with GPS devices, learned about glaciers on a hike, made camp T-shirts, and had free time. Some of the free time activities included canoeing and paddleboating, mini-golf, Gaga ball, ping pong, basketball, card games, and fishing.
During the day, students were in mixed groups with students from other schools, but at night, students stayed in cabins with students from their own school. Many thanks to our parent chaperones that went along to help us. The Lakeview staff that attended were Mrs. Mortier, Ms. Carrier, and Mr. Sepersky. 4th graders should start getting excited for camp next year! Check out the pictures below.

• Christine went above and beyond to be respectful of her teammates during our BreakOut session this week. Christine had talked with her younger brother about his experience and knew how most of the puzzles were solved. She talked with me before our session. She was extremely encouraging to her teammates while at the same time allowing them to use their problem solving skills. After we solved the session, Christine also started a discussion with the group to not brag that they were able to break out in case others were not able to so their feelings weren't hurt. Well Done!
• Egxon regularly goes out of his way to do kind things for others. For example, during basketball the teams were unfair because of numbers and he joined the other team to make it fair. Thanks for helping to make 5th grade a great place to be!
• During our Lexia worktime, Sophie regularly worked hard and remained focused. As a result, she has completed BOTH Lexia and PowerUp! Way to go, Sophie!
• [4 students] made a lot of growth on the ACCESS test from 2022 to 2023. It's really cool to see him applying what he learns in the classroom and showing what he knows! You should be proud of yourself!
• Ava has done a great job of using kind words towards her peers and being engaged while at the carpet and at her tabletop.
• Romeo has continued to grow his math and reading skills by being engaged during lessons and applying those skills independently.
• Kingsley continues to grow his math and reading skills by being engaged during instruction and then applying those skills when asked to complete a task independently. Great job, Kingsley!
• [Name] continues to demonstrate safe and respectful behavior in and out of the classroom. He sets a great example of being independent, listening attentively, and using kind words. Thank you!
• Noah listens attentively during group instruction and has grown in his participation skills. So proud of Noah for continuing to engage through his participation. We love hearing what you have to say Noah! Keep it up!
• Caitlynn has worked so hard in class. She has been engaged with all our lessons with eyes looking, ears listening, and body still. Keep up the amazing work!
• Drew noticed a student spill a breakfast tray on the floor. He quickly went over and said, " I got you buddy! We've got this!". Drew then helped him clean up the spill.
• Aiden did a fantastic job working with me! He put forth his best effort and was engaged the whole time. Way to go, Aiden!
• Kahlil worked very hard on MAP testing and he didn't give up. Way to go Kahlil!!
• Caleb has done a great job of staying engaged while on Lexia and has continued to show growth in his reading skills! Great job, Caleb!
• Lia continually demonstrates being safe, respectful, and engaged behaviors while in our classroom! Thank you Lia for doing such a fantastic job!
• Sophia is very respectful when it comes to being engaged at the carpet and interacting with peers and adults in our classroom! Thank you Sophia for demonstrating such awesome behaviors!
• Drew demonstrated being a leader and role model. Drew noticed that a student in Mrs. Zoellner's class was having a difficult time in the hallway. Drew asked Mrs. Zoellner if he could help the student. Drew helped the student by giving him a pep talk about making good choices. It totally helped turn the 1st graders' day around! Thank you for being a leader and role model for our 1st graders, Drew!
• Grace really made nice progress in her Math. Keep up your focus!
• Kiyus saw a first-grade student from Mrs. Nicholson's class struggling to carry the classroom garbage out into the hallway. He offered to help her carry it and even emptied out the bag for her, putting it into the big garbage. Way to show kindness and be a great friend, Kiyus!
