Beauty From Within

By Morgan Kendrick

Appearance By Willis Martyn

We place much
on
appearance.
Less
on
what it conceals.

Does a beautiful face
in equal measure
a heart
reveal?

And those with beautiful hearts,
encased within life's
less than idyllic form.

To know them,
is true to say,

a gift without cheap wrapping!
A no lesser
gift indeed!

By appearance and a shallow wanting
we so easily,
can be,
deceived!

Pretty Hurts by Beyonce

Mama said, you're a pretty girl
What's in your head it doesn't matter
Brush your hair, fix your teeth
What you wear is all that matters

Just another stage
Pageant the pain away
This time I'm gonna take the crown
Without falling down, down

Pretty hurts
Shine the light on whatever's worse
Perfection is the disease of a nation
Pretty hurts
Shine the light on whatever's worse
Tryna fix something
But you can't fix what you can't see
It's the soul that needs the surgery

Blonder hair, flat chest
TV says bigger is better
South beach, sugar free
Vogue says
Thinner is better

Just another stage
Pageant the pain away
This time I'm gonna take the crown
Without falling down, down, down

Pretty hurts
Shine the light on whatever's worse
Perfection is the disease of a nation
Pretty hurts
Shine the light on whatever's worse
Tryna fix something
But you can't fix what you can't see
It's the soul that needs the surgery

Ain't no doctor or therapeutic that can take the pain away
The pain's inside
And nobody frees you from your body
It's the soul that needs surgery
It's my soul that needs surgery
Plastic smiles and denial can only take you so far
And you break when the paper signs you in the dark
You left a shattered mirror
And the shards of a beautiful girl

Pretty hurts
Shine the light on whatever's worse
Perfection is the disease of a nation
Pretty hurts
Shine the light on whatever's worse
Tryna fix something
But you can't fix what you can't see
It's the soul that needs the surgery

When you're alone all by yourself
And you're lying in your bed
Reflection stares right into you
Are you happy with yourself
It's just a way to masquerade
The illusion has been shed
Are you happy with yourself
Are you happy with yourself
Yes

Quotes By Famous People

"I used to think I was the strangest person in the world, but then I thought there are so many people in the world. There must be someone just like me who feels bizarre and flawed in the same ways I do.

I would imagine her, and imagine that she must be out there thinking of me too.

Well, I hope that if you are out there and read this and know that, yes, it's true I'm here, and I'm just as strange as you." -Frida Kahlo

"Boys think girls are like books, If the cover doesn't catch their eye they won't bother to read what's inside." -Marilyn Monroe

"The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole, but true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she knows." -Audrey Hepburn

"I am my own muse, I am the subject I know best. The subject I want to know better." -Frida Kahlo

Outer Beauty vs. Inner Beauty- Laura Marie Tv- By Laura Marie

This article talks about what society thinks today's beauty consists of, which says beauty has to be young, thin, you have to have clean skin, make up, nice hair, etc. Video clips, magazines, movies, they always show what beauty looks like for men and women. The author continues to say that to have a complete transformation it has to be from the inside and out. The beauty from the outside has nothing if you don't have a beautiful soul. She goes on to say that today's role models are not really taking on their part as someone who is doing the right thing. Most of them represent the outer beauty without the inner, they show how they have lost themselves. They show how they prefer others looking and noticing them. And they don't take the time to worry about their spirit or their soul. Most famous people are too worried about their physical appearance, and they let that define them. But it is okay to love yourself physically that's what makes a beautiful soul. You also shouldn't change yourself to fit any of society's standards. Then the author goes on to talk about what an inner beauty looks like. Such as softness, kindness, understanding, not being self-absorbed, and have a healthy self-esteem. Their inner light shines bright so that no imperfection will really ever matter.
