The Puma Pulse Family Newsletter
August 8, 2021
Dear Prairie Families,
We are very excited to welcome students back to school starting August 19th. School will resume the traditional 5 days a week schedule for in-person learning in accordance with the WJUSD Reopening Plan.
At this time, CDPH mandates that all students are required to wear masks indoors. Adults in K-12 school settings are required to wear masks when sharing indoor spaces with students. CDPH K-12 Schools Guidance
The school office is now open Monday through Friday, 8am-4pm. We are happy to help you with the AERIES Parent Portal data confirmation process. Please note that all visitors must wear a mask. Please call before coming to the school as most transactions can be completed over the phone.
Feel free to call or email with any questions or concerns. We look forward to seeing our students again very soon!

AERIES Parent Portal Data Confirmation
Parent Portal/Class Lists
Families will need to complete the data confirmation process in Aeries Parent Portal beginning August 3rd. The window closes on September 3rd. Invitations to parents without portal accounts will go out around that date. Students will then be able to view their new teacher assignment online through Parent Portal. Class lists will not be posted in front of the school as they have been in the past. Please ensure that you have an accurate parent email address and phone number on file for communication and emergency purposes. Our goal is to have all data confirmed by the first day of school!
Please note that dismissal times have changed for the 2021-2022 school year.

3rd Grade DI Teacher
4th Grade DI Teacher
My name is Gloria Gutierrez. This will be my first year teaching 4th grade but previously student taught at Language Academy of Sacramento for a fifth grade dual immersion class. I received my bachelor's degree in Child Development and my teaching credential at Sacramento State. Before transferring to Sacramento State, I attended Cosumnes River College where I received an A.S. in Early Childhood Education. I always knew I wanted to be an educator, to support and include all students in my classroom. I love my chihuahua named Oliver. And I also love traveling to new places to exploring the nice scenery. The last place I visited was Carmel, CA which is about 3 hours away from Sacramento and it was beautiful.
I look forward to the new school year and meeting my students! I can't wait to embark on this journey with you all!

My name is Jennifer Smookler and I’m super excited to join the Prairie Team. A little bit about me...I’m from the Bay Area and a recent UC Davis graduate. I completed my student teaching at Plainfield and just finished working over the summer for Zamora’s STEAM Program. Currently I live in Davis and in my spare time I enjoy playing racquet sports, swimming, binge watching shows, playing video games, and getting boba or kbbq with my friends. I’m looking forward to meeting everyone and the adventures that lie ahead for the new school year.

Class Change Requests
Classes are created based on many criteria in order to meet the needs of all students and school-wide programs. We will not accept requests for changes of class assignments in the first two weeks of school. If there are concerns about your student’s class assignment, we will ask that you meet with the teacher, communicate your concerns, and explore modifications before making any changes.
ASES After-school Program
Breakfast & Lunch
The cafeteria opens daily from 7:45-8:00 a.m. for breakfast. Breakfast is free to all students. Students eating breakfast may go inside of the cafeteria. Students are not to be on the campus before 7:45 a.m. as there is no supervision.
A free lunch will be served to all students unless they bring lunch from home. The food is to be eaten by Prairie students only unless it is purchased.
