Updates and opportunities
Immunization update: NBAPS has received updated guidance regarding immunizations and school requirements. At this time, guidance from the Minnesota Department of Health and Minnesota Department of Education states that the Meningococcal vaccine will not be a requirement for incoming 12th graders. While it is no longer required for school, it is still an important immunization to protect against meningococcal disease. It is not known yet if there will be changes to the 7th grade requirements for the Tdap booster and Meningococcal, or Kindergarten immunizations requirements. Stay tuned for further information..
Thanks for your insights!: In April, many families took a voluntary survey provided by ECMECC regarding internet service and distance learning. Results from that survey can be found here. Thank you to all who participated!
Food shelves need volunteers: The State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) is seeking volunteers to help out at food banks and food shelves throughout the state. Volunteer duties may include food packaging, food distribution or assistance with warehouse duties. These volunteer positions are unpaid. If interested, please contact Valeria.Lindberg@state.mn.us, and include a name, email and your location (city).
Mental Health Month: May is Mental Health Month and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Minnesota has wonderful resources to assist families that may be experiencing adverse affects of the COVID-19 response. Click here to learn more! Please also see this article on coping strategies.
