Note from the Principal
Dear Tom Cox Families,
Happy New Year! It was great to welcome students back last week after the winter break! I realize this has been a challenging year for everyone. I am proud of the way our students and staff have overcome the obstacles and adjusted to new protocols. We look forward to having our students in the building and moving into the spring.
Please continue to encourage your child(ren) to wear their mask at school and out in public, to social distance, and sanitize their hands. If you have any questions or concerns you may contact me at 281-465-3200, or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you for your support!

Happy New Year! We hope you had a wonderful holiday. It's hard to believe that we are halfway through this year.
We all know how important it is to get back into a school routine. These few tips may be helpful:
- Establish a reasonable bedtime.
- Set up a homework time and an area that is quiet and well stocked with the necessary supplies to compete assignments.
- Check your child's Canvas page for assignments and project due dates.
- Prepare lunch and clothing in advance to save time in the morning.
We will have an officer’s meeting on Wednesday, January 13th at 8:00 a.m., and we cannot wait to discuss our plans for the year. The Officer’s Meeting will be held in the Counselor’s Office.
The general meeting for all Student Council members will be held on Friday, January 15th at 8:00 a.m. We will send a link to our virtual Student Council Members on Thursday, January 14th.
If you have questions about dates and times for meetings, please check out the Student Council webpage. We cannot wait to see everyone again!!
Writers club is for any student that wants to write more. This club will meet Tuesdays after dismissal until 5 pm. Students must have their own transportation home. If you are interested in participating in this club, please contact Mrs. Smith in room 103 or have your teacher email her with your name. This club has a maximum number of 20 students.
Notes from the School Nurse
The cooler weather provides the perfect time to pack some snacks, grab a sweater and head outside! Even with all the social distancing guidelines, we have so many awesome opportunities to get out and explore locally. Here are a few ideas for you and your family to make the most of the coming months, all while being socially conscious.
Remember to have your student bring and wear a mask to school each day and keep an extra one in your student's backpack.
Stay safe & Healthy!

Parents and students,
Our hope is to create a quality memory book for your kiddos similar to the ones in the past BUT…..we really need your help!! To make this the best book ever we are utilizing the Balfour Image Share mobile device app to allow you and your kiddo to submit pics directly to the yearbook throughout the year. In our first themed request, we would like to see the following:
Pics of your first day of school
Pics of you working in your virtual learning space
Pics of your student dressed up this week for Red Ribbon Week
We will organize the pics and try to make a spread highlighting these aspects of student life for 2021. To use the app go to the app store and download “Balfour Image Share” to your device and register your account. Please use our code, 125318.

RAINY DAY DISMISSAL PROCEDURES
Rainy/Cold Day Dismissal
If your student is a walker/biker they will be expected to walk or ride their bike on rainy days, unless you and your child have an alternate plan in place. If you choose for your child to be a car-rider on rainy days it is not necessary to complete a transportation change form.
In the case of severe weather (thunderstorms, lightening, blizzard) we may hold walkers/bikers until we feel it is safe for them to walk or ride home. If that does occur we will contact the parent to inform them of the delay. Bus transportation will run as scheduled.
