Laius
Laius was the great grandson of Cadmus. He was married to Jocasta after the rape of Chrysippus. Laius was warned that he can only save the city if he dies childless. He then gets killed years later at a crossroads outside Thebes.
Oracle of Apollo
It is named after the mythological god Apollo.
Sophocles
Sophocles is the narrator of the story. He wrote many plays and one of his most famous one was Oedipus Tyrannus.
Oedipus
Oedipus named had a meaning to it. It meant twisted foot. It was because his feet were mangled and swollen. This is because Laius and Jocasta pierced them with an iron pin. When Laius is killed Oedipus becomes king and marries the queen, Jocasta. He is unaware that she is actually his mother. Jocasta and Oedipus then have four children together.
Corinth
Corinth was the midland of greece.
King Polybus
King Polybus was the king of Corinth ant was married to queen Merope. He raised Oedipus as his adopted son.
