Meet A New Patriot

Joshua Smith

Hello, I am Joshua Smith from Wake Forest, NC. After my freshman year at Wake Forest High, I transferred to Wakefield. There I played basketball and football. I am a huge sports fan - favorite teams are NC State and Cowboys. I have a 4-year old daughter, Jhiya Rae, who is my world. If you're looking to find me, I am in Mr. Thomas' class working with my super kid, Jay Jay Wilson!

Laptops are here...now what?!

I know many of you are excited about the additional technology in your classrooms, and are looking forward to finding creative ways to embed the added technology into your instruction. Several teachers commented they plan to use the laptops at student workstations during certain points in a unit. I know several of you use the free version of Nearpod (**email me if you want to upgrade your Nearpod account for the rest of the school year), and I have small group of teachers trying Pear Deck for interactive presentations. Below are some creation and presentation websites for student use.

Remember to look at the Instructional Technology website for more digital integration ideas. They are categorized by what you want your students doing.

6th Grade CMAPP is Moving to Canvas

As many of you know, WCPSS is revamping 3rd, 6th, and 9th grade curriculum and content resources for next school year. With this revamp, the site for the curriculum map is moving to Canvas for those grade levels. Only 6th grade teachers will access CMAPP through Canvas, and everyone else will continue to use cmapp.wcpss.net. CMAPP through Canvas should be available July 1st.

2017 License Renewal

Individuals whose license expires June 30, 2017, due to renewal will be contacted by email about the process to complete renewal requirements in the state’s online licensing system. All who are renewing a license will have to complete Statement of Applicant questions, pay a $35 processing fee, and possibly complete Work Authorization procedures. Detailed instructions for each of these processes will be shared with individuals who are impacted. Contact Ms. Lovett with any questions.
