Building Knowledge!
Ms. Ginni's Class
What a great week we have had! We did all sorts of amazing activities! We were able to use our imaginations this week and explore the world of buildings and construction sites!
We read a lot about different kinds of buildings and we even draw our own building.
We also practiced making towers with various items such as multi-colored cubes, Legos and boxes. This activity was great for practicing our math skills.
All of the teachers were impressed with our work!
Enjoy the pictures!
Have a safe and wonderful weekend.
Ms. Ginni
BLOCK AREA STRUCTURES
Playing with blocks is crucial for helping us develop “spatial thinking,” or envisioning where blocks go in relation to each other as we build.
Deciding whether a block goes over or under another block, or whether it is aligned or perpendicular to it, are just the kinds of skills that support later learning in science, technology, engineering and math, according to research.
WRITING NAMES EVERYDAY!
Name recognition is related to early reading and writing skills. For example accomplishment of name-writing is a beginning step in developing awareness of the alphabetic principle (i.e., matching sounds with letters). Children learn that there is a difference between scribbling and letters grouped together, that words and letters have meaning.
I WISH YOU WELL!
This week during circle time we sat in front of a friend and we looked into their eyes. We "downloaded" our inner states into one another. We put in practice some conscious discipline techniques to improve human relations and behavior.
We shared secrets with our friends using nice statements like "I like to play with you" and "I would like to share my snack with you"
DOT COUNTING BOOK TO PRACTICE MATH SKILLS
COUNTING CUBES TO BUILD TOWERS!
We are crazy about MATH!!!!
VISITING THE LIBRARY!
When we learn new words we are likely to understand even more words!
We are also likely to learn basic phonics or decoding skills. So when we listen to stories we are in a trajectory of success because we are learning new words through books.
Every Wednesday we will be visiting the Library from 8:30 am to 9:00 am to develop our Language and Literacy skills.
Mr. Carlos Leignadier the School Architect came to visit!
Mr Carlos is the person who plans, designs, and oversees the construction of buildings at ISP.
He came to talk to us about the buildings that we have in our school and all the things that they need to build a new structure.
Thank you to Mr. Carlos for his time and enthusiasm.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR LEO!
This week we celebrated in the classroom Leo's 4th birthday! He was really happy to share this special day with his friends and teachers. He was the teacher's helper during the day and he brought cupcakes to share with his friends after snack.
Congratulations Leo! KAWABONGA!
