From The Principal
Happy Friday! Wow, the end of the year is rapidly approaching! This is such a busy time of year and I'm sure everyone can feel it! Classes wrapped up end of the year testing this week. Staff will be reviewing data next week to celebrate the amazing growth our students made! I am so proud of the hard work everyone put in.
Unfortunately, due to the rain today we had to move forward with rescheduling field day. Our planned "rain date" overlaps with the kindergarten field trip. I understand this is not an ideal situation, but we were able to make adjustments to the original schedule to still have kindergarten participate! Listed below is the UPDATED schedule. Students are encouraged to wear SOAR Tshirts or Caledonia gear!
- 2nd-4th grade Field Day times 9:15-11:30
- K-1st grade Field Day times 1:30-3:15
- Lunch will be "picnic style" outside, and parents are welcome to join! Students can bring a home lunch or school lunch. Parents will need to bring their own lunch if they choose to eat at school.
- Lunch times are as follows:
1st Grade: 11:30-12:05
- 2nd Grade: 11:45-12:20
- 3rd Grade: 12:10-12:45
- 4th Grade: 12:25-1:00
As a reminder for morning drop off, we ask that only students who are getting breakfast get out of cars and enter starting at 8:30 AM. All other students can get out of cars and enter the building starting at 8:35 AM. Thank you for your support with this!
Last Day of School Updates for June 2nd, 1/2 day dismissal:
- Any end of day changes MUST be made to the office/teacher by 9:30 AM on June 2nd.
- Due to the busyness of the last day and classroom celebrations, we will not be releasing students for early pickup after 11:15 AM unless it has been pre-arranged or is an emergency. Thank you for your help with this!
- 4th grade students will participate in a last day "Clap Out" to honor their time at Emmons Lake! Students will be able to celebrate our fourth grade students by cheering and clapping for them as they make one last lap around Emmons Lake.
- 4th Grade Clap Out: starting at 11:40 AM; parents are welcome to come watch and line the path across the playground. 4th graders will exit the building through the front entrance, walk across the playground, and end near the buses. From here 4th grade students will be dismissed to buses, pick up, or can be signed out by a parent. In the event of inclement weather, we will have a designated space inside for parents. Parents will need to be mindful of parking and not block/park in the pickup line or bus line.
Have a great weekend!
Your Principal,
Dana Champion-Wigfield
Fundraisers for Mrs. Grammer
Many of you already know that one of Emmons Lake Elementary's 4th Grade teachers, Mrs. Grammer, was recently diagnosed with Breast Cancer. We are hoping we can bless Mrs. Grammer by helping with some of her medical costs and expenses as she undergoes treatment in her fight against cancer. We have put together several fundraisers to help us do just this. Please consider helping us support Mrs. Grammer and her family during this difficult time and please feel free to share with your family and friends as well!
1. Bracelet Fundraiser: We are selling bracelets until May 26th in honor of Mrs. Grammer. Please see the attached flyer for more details and for the link to purchase!
2. Bucket Filler Fundraiser: There will be a bucket located inside the Emmons Lake lobby for any gift cards that you would be willing to donate to the Grammer Family!
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out to either one of us! Thank you in advance for your support!!

A Note from the School Nurse
The end of the school year is quickly approaching! Caledonia Community Schools are unable to keep medication over the summer, this includes inhalers, Epi-pens, other emergency medications and all Over the Counter (OTC) medication.
If your child has medication at School,
Please make arrangements to pick up your child’s medication(s) before or on the last day of the school (June 2nd). If you are unable to pick up the medication prior to school ending and need to make special arrangements to pick up the medications, please call the school prior to the end of the school year to make these arrangements.
The school cannot allow your child to bring the medication home (unless noted on consent form as self-carry) or allow anyone but a parent/guardian to pick it up. Many of these medications are expensive and the school is required to dispose of any medication that is not picked up, so please make arrangements to pick up your child’s medication as soon as possible.
All medications will be disposed of on Friday, June 9h.
