A Message from the Principal

February 14, 2022

Dear Holy Family Catholic School Community,

Happy St. Valentine’s Day, I hope the spirit of love fills your hearts on this special day!

I’d like to share some news with you regarding next year’s HFCS sports coordinator position. As you know, Ms. Barker has been our sports coordinator for many years. When she and I learned that our MS science teacher, Brittany Grady, had started working toward her Master of Education degree in Sports Administration we agreed that it was the perfect time to support Ms. Grady toward her long-term dream of becoming an athletic director. Ms. Barker will be sharing her knowledge with Ms. Grady to ensure that we have a smooth transition next year when Ms. Brady becomes our sports coordinator. Please see Ms. Grady’s bio below.

Ms. Grady is born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas and has been in the Catholic Diocese for six years. She graduated from East Central University and is currently pursuing her Master of Education in Sports Administration. Ms. Grady has played soccer since she was 4 years old, played club soccer, 4-year Varsity starter in soccer, and had a full ride for soccer at a NCAA D2 school all four years. In college she won conference her junior year. Ms. Grady has coached at Fort Worth Country Day as the JV Head Girls Soccer coach for 4 years and has coached their Summer Soccer Camps for 6 plus years now. Ms. Grady has coached club soccer and continues to play soccer on the weekends. She is very active in all sports and loves to watch and go to sporting events with her friends and family.

I hope that you have your prom attire ready for this Saturday’s PromORama at Ridglea Country Club. I look forward to seeing you there at 6:00pm!

Thank you and God bless,

Ann Walters

Donation Drive for the Sisters of St. Mary of Namur

The Student Leadership Council and National Junior Honor Society hosted a drive for goods for the Sisters of St. Mary of Namur during Catholic Schools Week. The students were so very generous and filled up their pantry with peanut butter, jellies and jams, cereal, and paper products.

In case you did not know, it was the Sisters of St. Mary who founded St. Alice.

Several of the sisters were going to come to celebrate Mass with us during CSW, but the wintery weather kept us all away. We hope to invite them back in the near future to Mass and visit the school.

Hornet Athletics

Congratulations, Blake!

Blake Roman participated in a JuJitsu tournamnet this weekend and won first place in his division for both Gui and No Gui competitions. He had to win two out of three fights in both competitions and he won the first two fights in both so he had four fights instead of six.

Hornet Basketball

Hornet Basketball has been exciting. While the 5th/6th Girls, 5th/6th Boys, and 7th Boys teams lost their games this past weekend, they played with heart and soul.

The 7th/8th grade girls team beat St. Andrew on Friday night and again on Saturday. They boys 8th grade team beat St. Elizabeth Ann Seton on Saturday!

Great job, Hornets!

Watch the Hornet Herald for the post season Stephen Breen Memorial Tournament, which is from February 21 to March 10. The 5th/6th grade finals are on Wednesday, March 9 and 7th/8th grade finals are on Thursday, March 10.
