Safe Routes to School Community Meeting
The Center for Climate Protection will be hosting a community meeting at Petaluma High School next Wednesday December 5 at 6:00PM in the Petaluma High School Library. The focus is on safe routes to school for students. Please see below for further detail.
In leading up to this Community Meeting, the project team has gathered background and existing conditions information on walking, biking, and using public transit to and from campus (please see the attached document). In addition, a walking audit was held in Spring 2018 with school officials, students, and community members around the access points to the school grounds to identify critical pedestrian, bike, and public transit infrastructure safety issues. Based on that research and input, the following was completed in draft form:
- Suggested Routes to School maps (walking, biking, and public transit access points)
- List of critical walking and biking safety issues which need to be addressed
- List of associated recommendations for improvements to address these crucial issues
These three elements will be reviewed at the meeting. We are looking for input from the public and city officials to see if there are any additional comments or to tell us if we have missed anything. This invaluable input will help to finalize the map and plans for future improvements in the Petaluma High community.
In joy and gratitude,
Kevin

Thank you to PHS Community!
- Thank to the entire PHS Community for your generous support for the Paradise High School community. The GoFundMe campaign has so far raised $5500 for the students there. We are working with the counseling department at Paradise on distributing these funds to needy students. Thank you, PHS Community! Our assistant principal, Kelly Kriss, who has worked in the Paradise Unified School District, will be presenting our contributions so that they can be passed on to the students.
