Happy Friday!
We had a very busy week in Grade 2. On Thursday, students brought home an Accelerated Reader packet. The packet included an informational letter, a computer generated performance report (to be signed and returned to school), a home connection letter, and a pink paper with four "AR Test Taking Tickets." When you and your child have decided they are ready for an AR test, please return a ticket to school.
Thank you to all of the parents who have signed up for SeeSaw! I am so excited for you to see what we are working on in class.

Math
This week, we took our Chapter 1 math test. To review for the test, we played Math Basketball. Ask your child about Math Basketball....they cannot stop talking about it at school!
Chapter 2 is "Addition up to 1,000." Please continue to practice math facts at home!
Reading
This week, we read
Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. In this story, a boy named Alexander (who is having a horrible, no good, very bad day) learns that everyone has bad days...even people who live in Australia!
Please remember that poetry folders are due each Wednesday! This week, our class poem is Animals.
Writing
This week, we have been stretching out our small moment stories. Children are working with writing partners to write key words about their stories.
Spelling
Monday: Say, Spell, Sort
Tuesday: Spelling Handwriting
Wednesday: Making Bubbles Word Work
Thursday: Spelling Test
Friday: New words went home
Social Studies
This week, we discussed and wrote about making good choices. We talked about what makes a good citizen.

Meet Miss Arko
My name is Valerie Arko. This is my second year teaching at Bellflower Elementary. I am a graduate of the University of Dayton. When I am not at school, I like to spend time with my family. I am the youngest of four children. I enjoy cooking, being outside, and learning new things!
