May RES Newsletter

May 1, 2022

Dear RES Families,

This will be the final publication of the Roscommon Elementary Newsletter for this school year. Roscommon Elementary is truly a very special school community. I am thankful and blessed to be a part of RES. We are celebrating many points of pride this school year. Our instructional staff continues to explore innovative ways to deliver a rigorous curriculum through evidence-based instructional practices so that children learn and grow academically. Another point of pride is our Parent Teacher Organization; parents and teachers who volunteer incredible amounts of time and energy to create fun and meaningful experiences for our students (PTO Field Trips, Bookfairs, etc).

As we count down to the final days of school, events and activities come up quickly. Please stay on top of school events and activities by visiting our website at and registering for our school ListServ. Additionally, there will be periodic updates for the 2022/23 school year calendar on our website throughout the summer months. Next school year, the district is restructuring buildings. Kindergarten through fourth grade will be at RES, 5-7th will be at RMS and 8-12th will remain at RHS. We look forward to welcoming two fourth grade teachers to the building! Enjoy the time with your family this summer...and remember to continue reading with your child!

2022/2023 Classroom Placement

Beginning in early June, RES grade level teams will be determining class lists for the 2022-23 school year. All our teachers are highly qualified, so you can be assured that your child will be placed in a classroom environment that will be conducive to his/her learning style. We do understand that there may be extenuating circumstances in which you may need to correspond with the team regarding your child’s needs and/or learning style preferences. If that is the case, please submit a letter addressed to Mrs. Baerlocher explaining your child’s specific needs and/or teacher attributes that best fit your child (rather than a specific teacher’s name). Your request will be considered when determining class placement. Please understand that there may be changes in grade level teacher assignments. Please submit your letter to the main office by Friday, May 20th. The team will do its best to meet your child’s needs while also considering the needs of all students.

K-4 2022/2023 Classroom Placements/Teacher Assignments will be sent out in the mail over the summer.

For all parents/guardians selected to be a chaperone, you will need to be sure that you have an approved iChat form. Here is the link to the form, it must be turned in at least a week prior to the scheduled trip. Additionally, due to various reasons, some parents/guardians will be required to attend with their child, individual teachers will be reaching out to families to communicate this.
