Adults can recognize students who are doing an excellent job demonstrating: Cooperation, Assertion, Responsibility, Empathy or Self control. Students who are recognized will be honored with a certificate, have their names announced at an All School Meeting, will be showcased in the Glendale monthly newsletter and will get to enjoy a cinnamon roll breakfast with Mrs. Molitor & the other recipients during morning meeting.
Congratulations to all of the students that received this award for March! The next C.A.R.E.S. breakfast will be Wednesday, April 10th.
Congratulations to our ACDA Honor Choir Students
School Visitor Safety Reminders
An individual or group may be denied permission to visit a school or school property or such permission may be revoked if the visitor(s) does not comply with the school district procedures and regulations or if the visit is not in the best interest of students, employees or the school district.
When picking up your child for a sibling's concert or event:
-Please come to the office and we will call your child up to meet you rather than walking around the building and stopping by their classroom.
**We ask that you please let their teacher know prior to the event, as pulling them out of class during learning time can be a big distraction to both the teacher & other students.
Thanks for your cooperation with this matter!
Penny Math Carnival
The 5th graders put on a Penny Math Carnival for the entire school March 20th & 21st.
They raised a total of $433.03!! The money raised will be used exclusively for Glendale students and families. Field trip scholarships and families in need are two examples of where the $$$ might be used. We would like to make this an annual tradition at Glendale.
Thank you to all of our Glendale students & families for your support and generous
donations!
Elementary Attendance Boundary Change Process Update
Thank you to all who attended our Public Information Session March 18 regarding the elementary attendance boundary change process. Public comments from March 18 were recorded and brought to the Input Team where they spent a lot of time studying all input. While no final decisions have been made, the Team discussed many ideas and will meet again April 10 to finalize recommendations to the School Board.
K-5 attendance boundaries are being redrawn for the 2020-21 school year to ensure we have adequate instructional and co-curricular space throughout our district for our growing student population. New elementary attendance boundaries will help even out enrollment across the district as we open our new school, Hamilton Ridge Elementary. Our goal is to maintain K-5 attendance boundaries for five years.
Some additional details to note:
· While we will maintain similar K-5 school start times, specific elementary school start-times for 2020-21 will also be reviewed in an effort to gain efficiencies with transportation.
· La ola del lago Spanish immersion school will be a district K-5 school, located at Grainwood Elementary, beginning in the fall of 2020.
· Edgewood School will continue to be home to Pre-K programs.
· K-5 In-District Transfer and Open Enrollment placements for the 2020-21 school year will be determined after the boundaries are approved.
Input Team meeting materials are available online. Elementary attendance boundary recommendations will be made to the School Board on April 22 with Board action expected May 6, 2019. You can follow along with the elementary attendance boundary process by visiting our website.

Why statewide testing?
Minnesota values its educational system and the professionalism of its educators. Minnesota educators created the academic standards which are rigorous and prepare our students for career and college. The statewide assessments are how we as a state measure that curriculum and daily instruction in our schools are being aligned to the academics standards, ensuring all students are being provided an equitable education. Statewide assessment results are just one tool to monitor that we are providing our children with the education that will ensure a strong workforce and knowledgeable citizens (from the Minnesota Department of Education).
Please click below to read more information about statewide testing and access the parent/guardian opt out form. This form must be signed by a parent/guardian and returned to the main office.
CARNIVAL SUCCESS!!
A HUGE "THANK YOU" to our wonderful PTC who once again put on a fabulous Carnival this year. We had a great turnout with lots of fun, food, games & prizes!
Lost & Found Spring Cleaning
Now that the weather is getting nicer, our Lost and Found is in need of a good spring cleaning! Please remind your child(ren) to do a sweep through after break to look for any items they may have lost over the winter. During conferences, we will have a table with all items laid out for parents to browse through.
**Anything left over will be donated to the Goodwill.
Art Show & Book Fair
Greetings from the Health Office!
As always, please remember to check your student for head lice over the spring break and periodically throughout the year. Information about head lice is available on the Health Services website: https://www.priorlake-savage.k12.mn.us/about-us/departments/health-safety If you do not have access to a computer, please call the Health office for a hard copy.
Tips for parents at home:
• Talk to your child about not sharing personal items such as combs, brushes and hats. However, no one should refuse to wear protective headgear because of fear of head lice.*
• Check your child’s head before and after sleep-over experiences.
• Talk to your child about avoiding head-to-head (hair-to-hair) contact during play and other activities at home, school, and elsewhere (sports activities, playground, slumber parties, camp). For example, in some situations a helpful strategy to decrease hair-to-hair contact may be to keep long hair in a ponytail rather than allowing it to hang down.
Spring Cleaning?
We would appreciate any clothing donations, so please consider us as you are cleaning out your closets. We are especially in need of both boys and girls pants size 5-10.
