Weekly Message from Kindergarten Teachers
Wow! Can you believe this will be our seventh and final week learning online? You are amazing! We miss you so much and we have been so impressed with all you have done. We are almost to the end of our school year.
You have worked hard to learn and grow this year and we hope you will take some time this summer to keep up your skills so you will be ready to jump right into first grade! Here are some links to help!

Reading Word Work:

Can you read these words? (There aren’t very many that we are ready to read yet so your parent may need to help with most of these.)

Time for sight word practice! Can you read these sight word sentences that were written by Kindergarten students last week?
Can you come to my party?
He can come to the park and play with me.
Can you come with me on a bike ride to the park?
There are a lot of creatures in the ocean.
Practice any kindergarten sight words you still need to memorize. (I, can, we, see, the, a, like, to, and, go, you, do, my, are, with, he, is, little, she, was, for, have, of, they, said, want, this, what, help, too, has, play, where, look, good, come, does, who, me, here.)
Reading Stories/Skills:
Read with someone for 20 minutes. (Here are some stories you might enjoy: The Three Little Pigs, The True Story of the Three Little Pigs by A. Wolf)
Go to Stories at Home and do Week 4 Day 20: Social/Emotional Learning - Kindness. You can click on ”Take Me There” where you can read the books and complete the activities. You can also click on “Watch the Video” and “Do the Activity.”
Writing/Grammar:
Write a complete sentence about what you can do to be kind to someone in your family. Remember to start your sentence with a capital letter, leave spaces in between your words, and to end your sentence with a period.) Can you write more than one sentence? Draw a picture that matches your sentence.
Math:
Count to 100 by 1’s and 10’s. Jack Hartmann Count to 100, Jack Hartmann Count to 100 by 10’s
Continue to practice your Kindergarten Math skills on Happy Numbers on the Kindergarten tab. Continue working through the modules at your own pace. Start with Module 1, Topic A and complete each lettered activity under Topic A before moving on to Topic B. These activities build on each other so it is best not to skip around. Begin each day where you left off. You only need to repeat activities if they were difficult for your child to complete correctly.
Science/Social Studies:
Follow this link to watch a Mystery Science video: Why do birds lay eggs in the spring?
EL Students: Do 30 mins. of Imagine Learning/KidBiz.
Music: Go to https://www.mydso.com/dso-kids/learn-and-listen/instruments and click on your favorite instrument- the videos have lots of cool facts and sounds to learn about!

Reading Word Work:
Follow these links to watch a video about the sight word, “where”: Jack Hartmann - where.
Spell and then read the word, “where”’ five times (“w-h-e-r-e, where”).
Practice using the sight word, “where”, in a sentence.
Read this sentence. “Where can we play today? How many sight words are in the sentence? Can you make a sentence using that many sight words or more? If you want, you can send your sentence to your teacher so it can be a part of a coming week’s sight word practice!
Practice blending (reading) and/or writing CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant words) and sight words in these sentences.
Pat can hit the ball with the bat.
Where did the ball go?
Can the cat and the dog play with the fox and the hen?
We are not sad. We are not mad. We are glad.

Science/Social Studies:

Blend these CVC words and decide if they are real or nonsense words. Every time you read a real word, take a bow. Every time you read a nonsense word, do a jumping jack.
