K-Kids Valentine Shop
Our K-Kids will be having their Valentine Shop open again this year. You should have already gotten information about it from the K-Kids. The Valentine Shop is different from the Christmas Shop in that items purchased are held until Valentine's Day. The items will be delivered to students' classrooms on that day. If you would like to order something for your child, please send in the order form along with the payment. They will fill the orders as they get them. The items are on a first come, first served basis.
Donuts With Dudes
This year our PTO is hosting a Donuts With Dudes on Tuesday, February 12th. Dads or other significant male figures are invited to come by from 7:30 - 8:00 and have a donut with your child. This will be in the cafeteria. We hope your child's dude will make it to this special occasion!
Valentine's Day Parties
Valentine's Day parties will be on Thursday, February 14th. Your child's teacher will let you know what time the party will be for the class.
One School One Book Project
One of our favorite school-wide activities for the year is our One School One Book Project. We will be revealing our book title early in February. We will have around 3-weeks to read the book. The book and reading schedule will be sent home together. If you have more than one child at MCE, your youngest child will be bringing it home. We will wrap up our One School One Book Project with a Family Night on Thursday, February 28th. Mrs. Adkins will be sending out more information soon.
President's Day
School will be closed on Monday, February 18th for President's Day. We hope everyone has a nice long weekend.
Spring Pictures
Spring Pictures will be taken on Tuesday, February 19th. Only the students who have pre-paid or bring money in on Picture Day will have his/her picture made.
Playground Problems
We have been having some problems on our playground with dog waste - poop and urine. We have had children step in the poop and sometimes the urine is on the slides and other equipment. We leave the gates to the playground open for the community to use nights and weekends. However, if the problem continues, we may have to start keeping the gates locked. I really don't want to do that to everyone when the problem probably lies with a handful of people. I also realize that the people bringing their dogs may not even have children in school to get this newsletter. If people are running or walking with their dogs, please come around the front of the building and do not get on the enclosed playground areas. It is unsanitary for our students to have dog waste on the playground and I hope the problem can be resolved without having to keep the gates locked. Thanks for your help.
