Book of the Week: "To Kill A Mockingbird"
To Kill A Mockingbird, to me, is one of the most important books in American Literature. The story is told through the eyes of Scout, a young girl, whose innocence allows her to see all humans as fundamentally good. When she and some friends witness social inequality and injustice, her friends find their moral compasses spinning wildly and their faith in humanity lost. Scout, however, has her father Atticus Finch as a role model. Atticus acts as a beacon of ethical light in a world that doesn’t always treat people as they deserve. It’s a beautifully written novel that allowed my faith in humanity to grow. It’s a book that every high school student should read!
