Introduction
The book Night Sky, is about what you see in the sky, either with your naked eye, binoculars, or a telescope, etc. The book talks about constellations, planets, and stars. I already knew about the constellations Ursa Major, Orion and other constellations in the northern hemisphere. I also had much more back ground knowledge thanks to Mr. Watson. But, there was still lots of things I learned!
This is Orion, this constellation is located in the northern hemisphere, it is known for
"Orion's Belt" I would like to thank "Orion Communities" website for this photo.
Sagittarius
Sagittarius is also known as The Archer. This constellation is visible worldwide, but, it is located in the southern hemisphere. Did you know that to the ancient Greeks, this constellation represented a wise centaur called Chiron, a archer with a bow and arrow? Also the brightest star in Sagittarius, is Kaus Australis. Another interesting fact about Sagittarius, is that the best time to see Sagittarius is July to October after sunset, try it!
Scorpius
Scorpius, also known as Scorpio, is one of the constellations of the zodiac. Its name is Latin for scorpion, and it's abbreviation is Sco. Scorpius is visible worldwide, but the best time to see April to September after sunset. The brightest star in Scorpius is Antares. Many of the brightest stars in Scropio are true neighbors in outer space, they were formed around the same time and most of the same material.
Jupiter
Jupiter is the fifth planet from the Sun and the largest planet in our Solar System. It is a gas giant with mass 1/1,000 of the Sun. But is 2 and a half times the mass of all the other planets in our Solar System combined. Did you know that Jupiter has 63 moons? Jupiter is the second brightest planet next to Venus, also that with binoculars you can see Jupiter's 4 largest moons
Orion VS. Taurus
On page 40 there was a picture of Orion in a position as if something is coming at him. But, after I read in the caption I realized that Orion was really in a position as if something was coming at him. In the text it says "With is his dogs Canis Major and Canis Minor, he faced the charging bull Taurus." I would like to thank https://bobmoler.wordpress.com for this photo.
The Questions I Still Have
The question I still have is, what is (a) zodiac? I can locate some answers in the book index and on Google. I located my answer on Google, and the answer was "In both astrology and historical astronomy, the zodiac is a circle of twelve 30° divisions of celestial longitude that are centered upon the ecliptic, the apparent path of the Sun across the celestial sphere over the course of the year.".
