Mrs. Krahn & Ms. Miszewski's classes

We are off to a fantastic start in Kindergarten! The children are settling in and learning the names of new friends. They are able to recognize their classmates, even though we have masks on. We have been spending time setting up expectations, rules and routines. We are amazed at how quickly our students have gotten back into school mode, considering the sudden closure of school last March.

We are very excited for our year together! Thank you very much for all you have done to prepare your child for these unprecedented times. We also greatly appreciate all of your patience, understanding and words of kindness, support and encouragement as together we embark on this adventure.

Each day, we have watched a different video made by our very own Mr. Bennewitz, Rose Glen's school psychologist. We have loved watching these videos; they are a fun way to help us remember the things we need to do to be safe at school. We are really working hard to keep ourselves and others healthy. We are very happy to be back in school 5 days a week, and we definitely want it to stay that way! The videos are linked below for you to enjoy watching with your child.

Kindergarten Information

Please take some time to read through our kindergarten handbook. It includes a lot of important information about school-wide and grade-level expectations.

We've been enjoying using our new iPads this week! We have talked about how to care for our iPads and what the expectations are for using our iPad as a learning tool in kindergarten. We tried out 3 new apps that we will be using throughout the year.

High frequency words

High frequency words, sometimes also called sight words, are words that show up often in books and other written material. Examples of high frequency words are words such as "and", "the", "it" and "see". There are 40 high frequency words that kindergarten students in the School District of Waukesha are expected to be able to read by the end of the school year. We are including a list of these words (through the link below) so you are aware of what they are.
