Amazing Spring Tech Events and Programs

The warmer weather is just around the corner and with it are some fabulous technology events happening in YRDSB. If you are interested in learning more about Google Apps for Education and other technology tools come out to the YRDSB EdTech Camp. If you have students ready to present or learn about the latest digital tools sign up for the YES Conference. In addition, teachers are welcome to apply for free technology through the Teacher Technology Engagement Program.

Spring YRDSB EdTech Camp Saturday April 11, 2015

Registration is Open on C2L!

YRDSB EdTech Camp is a one-day conference for YRDSB teachers, administrators and support staff to come together and gain practical insights into how to use Google Apps and other educational technology tools and resources in their schools. CBC Metro Morning columnist Jesse Hirsh will deliver our opening keynote. A choice of one and two hour sessions will offered by YRDSB teachers who have been using educational technology in their classes. Sessions will be offered on a wide variety of topics at various levels of expertise.

Target Audience: This conference is open to all YRDSB teachers, administrators and support staff.

The Youth Edtech Summit (YES) is a one ­day student centred forum for YRDSB students and staff to co-learn while demonstrating and sand-boxing a multitude of methods for engaging technology in their personal learning. This is an exciting leadership opportunity for students to share their understanding around curriculum and technology and facilitate creative learning sessions with other students. Inspire and Create sessions will be offered by students for students on a wide variety of topics encompassing the meaningful and purposeful use of technology tools, devices and software. All participants are invited to investigate the Makerspace, have fun and think about opportunities for their classrooms.

Teacher Technology Engagement Program

The Teacher Technology Engagement Program will be available for teachers to receive technology over the next three years. Teachers will have the choice of a Dell laptop or a Dell Chromebook with a Nexus 7 tablet. Your participation in the Digital Citizenship and Responsibility module on previous PA day was the first step in the process.
