Hardware Connection Types

There are many different types of hardware connections from SCART to VGA, and HDMI to USB. On this website I will be explaining the different types of cables and connections on this website.

Optical Cables

This is a data cable. You can connect your Computer to your own or another's TV with this data cable. A technology that uses glass (or plastic) threads (fibers) to transmit data. A fiber optic cable consists of a bundle of glass threads, each of which is capable of transmitting messages modulated onto light waves.

SCART is a French-originated standard and associated 21-pin connector for connecting audio-visual (AV) equipment together. A SCART connector is a physical and electrical interconnection between two pieces of audio-visual equipment, such as a television set and a video cassette recorder.

Video Graphics Array (VGA) refers specifically to the display hardware first introduced with the IBM PS/2 line of computers in 1987. Using a VGA you can link your computers to other devises with a VGA slot such as a projector or sometimes even a TV.
