Fall Festival

We are so grateful for the support we had from MAPA and parent volunteers in making our Fall Festival an absolute success. Thank you to all the families who came out to enjoy the fun!

Parent Teacher Conferences Begin!

Parent Teacher Conferences start Monday and run through Wednesday, October 17th. Haven't signed up? It is not too late to do so through Track it Forward. Locate the date and your student's teacher to sign up. If the calendar view is too overwhelming with all teachers on it, you can click "filter by category" and only check your child's teachers.

Please remember, elementary and JH students are released at 1:00pm Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. AM early childhood students are released at 10:30am and PM early childhood students attend 11am-1pm on early release days.

Hands-On How To Workshop during PTCs

Workshops will be offered to Junior High parents/guardians and students on how to navigate Canvas on the hour beginning at 2, 3, 4, and 6pm each night of Parent Teacher Conferences. We apologize for removing the 5pm session. Participants will be logging into Canvas on a school computer on these nights. Canvas is an online learning platform where teachers post student grades at least once per week and also communicate with students and their families.

Book Fair

Come check out the book fair during Parent Teacher Conferences. It will be held, by MAPA, in the library Monday-Wednesday from 1:00pm-7:00pm. If you are looking to volunteer, please sign up at

Fall Break

Don't forget that schools are closed this Thursday, October 18th and Friday, October 19th for fall break. We hope you get outside for some family fun.

Afternoon Pick Up Concerns

A lovely neighbor contacted us regarding afternoon pick up concerns. Recently, their driveway has been blocked by parked cars along with individuals parking on their lawn, which has resulted in broken sprinklers. When asked to move, they have been yelled at or ignored. The neighbor's biggest concern is the safety of our students. Please be mindful of our neighbor's spaces and do not park in their driveway or lawn. As a reminder, if you need to park, please park in a stall either in our parking lot or in North Shore. There is to be no parking on any of the streets surrounding our school.

Lockdown Clarification

On Thursday, Ms. René sent out an email to all parents regarding this matter and posted it on Facebook. If you missed it, here it is:

There was a dangerous hoax at Capstone yesterday where someone reported that there was an active shooter and the school went into lockdown. There was no shooter.

Our school did not go into lockdown on Wednesday because there was no threat to MMA. North Ogden police sent officers to all of the schools in N. Ogden just to check on everyone. The officers that walked through MMA yesterday did not recommend any action on our part as there was no threat to our safety.

If you are like me and do not watch the news, the media coverage is here.

A friendly reminder from a student...

"Have a great day

From: me

To: me"

Student of the Month

Big picture

Each month a junior high student is chosen by their teachers who show signs of leadership and good academics at our school. Ms. Andrea interviews each student to be featured in the North Ogden Connections Magazine. This month our student is...Isaac Venzor.

Isaac Venzor is a leader at Maria Montessori Academy, serving on both Student Council and HOPE Squad. Outside of school, Isaac enjoys playing and watching soccer, creating art, and reading. His favorite team is Barcelona FC. In school, his favorite class is Geography, because he “likes learning about other cultures because sometimes we are too self-centered, and I feel like we should get a different point of view.” He wants to graduate college and learn Portuguese and possibly study architecture. His motto is “be open to failure”, because “ a lot of people mess up and are too scared to try again, I try to look at failure as an opportunity to learn what I did wrong and what I did right.” Isaac says, “I believe this generation is special because we have power to take action and change the things that are bringing this planet down. It’s important for all of us to use our voices, because every voice can have an impact or a revolutionary idea. Everyone should have a voice in this world. As leaders, we have to rise by lifting others."

Track it Forward & Volunteering

We are a community school and we request that all families volunteer at least 40 hours per school year, cumulatively between all family members. MAPA utilizes a online program called Track it Forward to advertise school events, opportunities to volunteer, and to calculate each family's progress toward meeting the goal of 40 hours. You can even get to it on your smart phone.

Join MAPA on Facebook

Head over to the new and official Facebook page for MAPA, MMA's parent organization:

The Montessori Academy Parent Association (MAPA) is the Parent-Teacher Organization for Maria Montessori Academy. This organization is used to facilitate communication and involvement between parents and teachers. MAPA is currently seeking volunteers who are interested in joining this organization to ensure that the needs of Maria Montessori Academy’s student body are being fulfilled.
