Where the Adventure Begins...
Happy Friday!
Happy Friday, families! What a fun week celebrating National Children's Book Week! We had lots of wonderful guest readers this week including our superintendent, Dr. Waldrip! (pictured above)
I hope you were able to see our Book Character Parade today! The children were absolutely PRECIOUS! Thanks to all of you who helped your child with their costumes. What a fun way to encourage their love for books!!! I hope you enjoy the pictures below!
So next week is a big week too! It is National Teacher Appreciation Week! This is the perfect time to shower your child's teacher and teacher's assistant with love, appreciation, and any other ways you'd like to let them know how wonderful they are! Thank you for your thoughtfulness!!
Have a wonderful weekend!

I Want to Hear From YOU!
Many of you have posted comments, suggestions or questions on my Parent Padlet. Thank you! It is one of the ways for me to stay connected with you and allows other parents to see your questions. You never know when someone else is wondering the same thing. The cool thing is that it is completely anonymous! So post away and I will be sure to respond.
Just click on this link and you're on your way!
https://padlet.com/ellisme/2tgpyt1d5twqBuses Only!
Please remember that the back loop of our school is for buses only!! When cars drive through, our buses cannot load or unload or move. It also creates a safety for students and staff that are back there. Keep all cars in the front and side loops only. Thank you so much!
The Counselor's Corner
Talking about money can help your young child learn about financial responsibility. Like other important topics, share and discuss ideas a little at a time at their level. Parents have different opinions about whether or not to give allowances to their children. Here are a couple of ideas if you choose to give an allowance and other suggestions if you choose not to give an allowance.
One idea I have seen over and over again is to have three different containers (e.g. jars, piggy banks). Each container has a different label: “Saving,” “Sharing,” and “Spending.” Help your child understand that financially responsibility means saving for big things. Therefore, they need help setting a realistic goal. If not, he or she may give up saving for a big ticket purchase if it takes months to save. The “Sharing” money can be mean donations at your place of worship or a local charity. And of course their “spending money” can be for small items and used when the family goes shopping. It’s important to discuss expectations and limits—you may not want to have a shopping spree in the candy aisle or to come home with critters from the pet store just because your child can afford them.
Teaching financial responsibility does not mean you must give an allowance. There are other ways to help your child to learn. If you choose not to give allowance, then you can have your child cut coupons, compare last month’s utility bill to this month’s, and talk about how your family donates to charity.
