Transition Resetting Monday & Tuesday
Hallway transitions are an important component of our school culture and overall school safety. Recently, some of our team members have become loose or relaxed with our transition expectations. On Monday and Tuesday of this week we will prioritize providing direct feedback and coaching to teachers whose classes are not meeting the transition expectations as they move to and from electives and to and from lunch. If you are uncertain of the school-wide transition expectations, please review the reminders below.
- Teachers should be with their scholars visibly monitoring their entire class.
- Classes should be silent while they transitioning inside of the building.
- Scholars should not have cell phones out or head phones in their ears as they transition.
- Scholars should be taught and redirected to transition in a line as they move from point to point on campus.

CMS Water Testing Update
Results from water testing recently conducted at our school have returned. In all, 34 water-consumption points were tested. No problems were found with our water and plumbing.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools began voluntary testing of all sources of water intended for drinking, food preparation or cooking in 58 schools last year. Earlier this fall, we began voluntary testing of an additional 35 sites, screening for lead and copper in the water. This was a proactive program of testing done because we put a top priority on student and staff safety and health.
Native American Heritage Month Presentation
I'm excited to announce a wonderful opportunity for our 7th & 8th grade scholars coming up on Tuesday, November 27th. Brittany Hunt is a member of the Lumbee Tribe and will be talking with our scholars about dismantling systems of oppression and eliminating stereotypes about Native Americans. Below is a link of a flyer for one of Ms. Hunt's earlier presentations.
