News & Updates
Hello CELC Families,
I hope that you all had a great weekend. The weather has been beautiful! Our Teddy Bear Picnics fell on a perfect week. Some years it has been very hot and others it has been cold. Thank you to everyone who joined the Cubs for the annual event.
Each year, AUSD schools update Site Safety Plans. It is reviewed by the local fire department, Sheriff's Department, staff, and parents. In addition, the SSC reviews and approves it. Thank you to all that helped this year. We keep a copy in the office for both MVLA and CELC.
Each week, our Cubs study a new color word. This week is purple. Lessons and activities around the color purple will happen throughout the week. This Thursday, students are encouraged to wear purple to school.
Here is a list of the latest updates and news to keep you informed:
- The PTA had a committee last week to discuss possible fundraisers. We are excited to be moving forward with Square One Art, and greeting cards. Stay tuned for more details on the fundraisers and our membership drive. Our big fundraiser of the year is in November. The PTA will be looking for help to plan, organize, and supervise the Turkey Trot.
- If you have any spare time in the morning after school starts, or in the afternoon 20-30 minutes before the end of school, the office could use some help putting together emergency buckets. Please let us know if you can help.
- Reminder: We love pets but they are not allowed on campus. Please do not bring them on campus.
- We had a generous donation of new backpacks dropped off. If you know any AUSD students that need a backpack, please stop by the office. They are free to anyone in need.
- Please send your student to school each day with a backpack, refillable water bottle, a healthy snack, and a lunch (unless they are getting a cafeteria lunch).
Please report any absences to your child's teacher and the office. We still are required to follow COVID protocols for illnesses. Please let the office know the reason your child is out and what symptoms they have.
We LOVE volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering in any capacity, please pick up the required paperwork in the office. All volunteers must be cleared and either be vaccinated or test negative within 7 days of the event. The office needs a copy of your CDL, and TB results to process the application.
Before and after school care is available. Please contact our ESS Coordinator, Natalija Worrell, if you have any questions at nworrell@alpineschools.net
For transportation questions, please visit AUSD's website at https://www.alpineschools.net/page/transportation
Every Monday is college spirit day! Students can join the fun by wearing a college shirt to school.

AUSD 2022-23 LCAP GOALS
The Governor's budget for education mandated that every school district in California needs to update its Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP). The Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) is a component of the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF). The LCAP is intended to be a three-year plan to improve student achievement by setting annual goals for the district in eight priority areas. Each of the priorities has established data requirements to track district progress improving student achievement. The LCAP requires Districts to gather input from students, teachers, parents, and community members to determine the goals, actions, and budget priorities for the District. Our District staff worked together with all of our stakeholder groups to gather input and craft the draft of our Local Control Accountability Plan. Here are AUSD's 2022-23 LCAP Goals:
Goal #1: Effective Instruction and Curriculum - Provide equitable access to high-quality classroom curriculum and instruction in an inclusive environment that promotes student success.
Goal #2: Safe and Respectful Environments - Ensure all school sites are safe and have healthy and welcoming climates for staff, students, and their families so that all students feel connected and are motivated to attend and ready to learn.
Goal #3: Equitable and Culturally Responsible Systems - Ensure systems and processes eliminate barriers to student success and are equitable and culturally responsive to the needs of our students and their families.
