Bridge Valley's Newest Staff Member!
This past week, students searched for posted clues around the building, and made guesses about our newest Bridge Valley "staff member". Today, Blazer the Trailblazing Dog, was SO excited to begin a new job, making a big debut by traveling around the school to recognize Blazer Bonus winners!
Blazer, Mr. Cochran, and a mobile tech crew, made their way throughout the building using a Teams link for all to watch and enjoy. Students and staff excitedly welcomed Blazer, as they were reminded of Bridge Valley's character traits: Respect, Responsibility, Collaboration, and Citizenship. Blazer will continue to be on the look-out for students demonstrating these character traits.
Welcome to the BV Family, Blazer!

Thank you to our Bridge Valley Family
Dear BV Families:
We wanted to extend a wholehearted thank you for your wonderful support of our Fall Teacher's Appreciation Luncheon! We were able to use all of your food and donations to provide our teachers with a wonderful luncheon on December 9th before parent/teacher conferences began. This luncheon allowed us to thank them for all of their hard work and dedication in teaching our wonderful children. Below you will find a few pictures of the Italian bistro you made happen! Thank you again for your continued support of our Home and School sponsored events. We look forward to feeding the full school staff come spring-time!
Gratefully,
The Teacher Appreciation Committee
BINGO NIGHT NEEDS YOU
The Bridge Valley HSA is currently recruiting volunteers for Bingo Night, February 4, 2022 at 6:30pm. This beloved, in-person event is only possible with the help of parent volunteers. There are FOUR ways to volunteer: help organize the event, check-in families, sell refreshments, or purchase prizes. The time commitment for volunteers is less than 3 hours, with most hours being completed at home or PRIOR to the event, allowing volunteers to participate with their families. Click the link below to help bring joy to our school community. We look forward to working with you!

ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL:
YELLOW DOORS (main entrance): All students and visitors MUST enter though the yellow doors, which is our main entrance. If your child needs to be escorted into the building, please enter through the yellow doors, and check in with the office.
CAR RIDER LINE: To ensure the safety of our students and help maintain the flow of traffic during arrival and dismissal, we are asking the following:
~ Please pull up your vehicle as far as possible within the car rider line, without blocking the crosswalk, before your child leaves or enters your vehicle.
~ Please have your child ready to transition quickly out of your vehicle. BV staff are in place if needed, and we are kindly asking you to remain in your vehicle during drop off and pick up.
~ Please be mindful of where your child is entering the vehicle. If possible, your child should always enter your vehicle from the sidewalk.
~ Please be aware of vehicles passing your vehicle from further back in the car rider line when moving forward.
~ Please pay attention to adults and children using the crosswalk to and from our parking lot.
THANK YOU for your cooperation as we continue to focus on safety while creating a smooth arrival and dismissal process for all!

CBSD Technology When Traveling
Currently, the Technology and Innovation Department blocks Microsoft Office 365 logins to Outlook, OneDrive, ClassLink, and Canvas from foreign countries. This aids in protecting our CBSD user accounts and organization from malicious computer attacks from outside of the United States.
Students who travel cannot assume their devices will work once they leave the United States. For student out-of-country access requests, please know that access to technology for vacations will not be approved at this time.
Do you have the CB App?
There’s a free app for that. Learn more about it here.

Find a job you enjoy doing, and you will never have to work a day in your life.”
― Mark Twain
This quote may optimize the wish that many parents have for their children’s future. Some of you may be fortunate enough to feel that way about your own career. Finding that ideal job is the challenge and for our children it is often a matter of “trying things on” to see what fits. The link below shares interesting looks at how people feel about the work they do. Although many of the videos may be more appropriate for older students, some could be fun for the younger ones such as Kite Designer or Experimental Film and Stop Motion Animator.
Perhaps take a few minutes over the upcoming school break and watch some of these with your sons and daughters. Ask them what they think, and listen. You both may learn something about “a job you enjoy doing.”

Teaching Children to Help Others
If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody. -Chinese Proverb
Children are never too young to learn the value and joy of helping others. As we know, children learn by watching their parents. Take talking, for instance. We talk to our children from the time they’re babies and, after a while, they start talking back. We know that if they see us reading, chances are they will learn to love reading too. We can also model compassion and generosity to raise caring kids. If children see us donating our time, money, and belongings, they will learn to do the same. By volunteering or donating as a family, parents can raise children who not only care, but help others. Here are a few ideas for helping and supporting others.
Start volunteering locally. Go to your church, temple, other religious organization, community center, school, or library to ask about local groups that support the cause(s) you've identified. Talk to friends, family members, coworkers, and neighbors about your area of interest. Perhaps you already know someone who is volunteering for a charity that would be a good fit for your family. Local United Ways often have volunteer listings.
Go straight to the source. If your child wants to cheer up children in the hospital, visit or call a local children’s hospital with your child and ask what you can do. You may want to suggest specific activities like hosting a holiday party, doing arts and craft projects for children in the hospital, painting the fingernails of all the girls, dressing like a clown and painting faces, or whatever your child thinks of. If your child loves animals, you could visit an animal shelter together and offer to walk the dogs once a week. Be creative! If you are sincere and are suggesting something that doesn't make more work for the employees or other volunteers, chances are you will get a warm reception.
