Academy of the Arts at Bransom
September 11-15, 2017 (School Days 15-19)
A Note From the Principal
I want to remind everyone also that the Big Kahuna Fundraiser is underway until September 20. On this day, students will bring their orders and money to school. It will take a couple of days to get orders officially made and orders to be filled. October 17th is the anticipated day for the delivery of product back to the school. So please make arrangements sometime after 12:00 on that day to collect your goodies. Online orders are delivered straight to customers' home.
Grandparents' Day is this Friday. We are asking that any family who wants to invite grandparents to this special day and wants them to eat from the cafeteria to please make their lunch reservations by Tuesday. This will guarantee enough food for all. If grandparents are planning on bringing lunch to school, reservations are not necessary.
Other upcoming dates to put on your calendar are as follows:
- Constitution Day is Monday, September 18.
- Curriculum Night is Tuesday, September 19 (5:30 session and 6:15 repeat session). Please plan to join your child's teacher at one of the session for important information about this year.
- 5th Grade goes to Bass Hall on Friday, September 22.
- The district PE Stampede is on Monday evening, September 25 a Kerr Middle School from 5:30-7:00PM. ($1,000 to the school with the most participation- students, siblings, parents, and teachers. Let's WIN!!)
- Final day of the 1st 6-week grading period for 2nd - 5th grades is September 29.
- Our first Bobcat Pride Character Breakfast will be on Thursday, October 5th. If your child wins this character award, you will receive an invitation at a later date.
- Student holiday is scheduled for Friday, October 6th and on Monday, October 9th for Columbus Day.
In closing, I have a final reminder. The work you do everyday with your child is so important and appreciated. Providing nutritious meals, committing to helping your child get a good night's sleep, reading everyday, encouraging good effort, and having the all important conversation about his/her day are among the things that can make all the difference in the world to your child's success.
As always I so appreciate your continued support in our school and in your child's education. Together, we can have a successful and prosperous year.
Respectfully,
Mrs. Burchfield
The Final Shipment of Chromebooks Have Been Delivered
At all levels, Chromebooks should come to school everyday charged and ready to roll. It is extremely important to get a cover for the Chromebook to help keep it protected and in working condition for a long time. We are depending on Academy of the Arts parents to monitor usage and care at home. Thanks for your help!
SUMMER READER AWARDS ASSEMBLY
TIP of the Week from Mrs. Blair, Math Interventionist
Encourage children to play math puzzles and games. Susan Flannery reported that her math achievement and enthusiasm came from the puzzles that she was given to solve at home. Puzzles and games-anything with dice really-will help kids enjoy math, and develop number sense, which is critically important.
