Alcova Elementary School
August 13, 2021
Happy Friday Alcova Family!
It is hard to believe we are wrapping up our first full week of school! The students are SOARing in the hallways and bringing so much sunshine back into the building.
Thank you for your support and patience as we maneuver our extended car rider lane and bus driver shortage. It is truly taking an Alcova Falcon Team Effort to get all of our students home safely. Most importantly, our students are happy and teachers are rocking this first couple of days of school!
Have a fantastic weekend and don't forget to mark your calendars with some upcoming events.
Important Required Back To School Orientation Agreements for all students.
Digital Curriculum Night
- Digital Curriculum Night, K-2nd Grade 5-6pm
- Digital Curriculum Night, 3rd-5th Grade 6-7pm
Teachers will be sharing important information regarding your student's curriculum and other classroom information. We hope to see you here for this special evening.
Alcova Garden Training
Students will receive garden training while in STEM specials class this year in accordance with STEM AKS . Once trained, teachers may sign up classes for time slots to participate in various tending duties such as pulling weeds, watering, and harvesting.
We are thankful for a bountiful harvest of blueberries, tomatos, cherry tomatos, cucumbers, beans, peppers, okra and yellow and zucchini squash. Thank you to Sara Van Nus and all who helped plant and tend the garden. These numbers keep rising every week. The harvest is helping families in need.
Coming Soon to Alcova
We are excited to announce plans for a chicken coop and chickens to join our garden area very soon. Ms. Van Nus will also be heading up this project and will use STEM AKS to involve our students in the care and raising of our Alcova chickens.
