A Note from the Principal
First of all, THANK YOU to all of the parents and family members who have done such a great job in adhering to the arrival and dismissal procedures that were outlined in an email earlier this week. I sincerely appreciate people being open to adapting their routines or correcting something in order to keep our kids safe. Things have definitely improved!
The safety and security of our students is of the utmost importance, and it remains a continuing conversation among our faculty/staff, our Safety Committee, and our local safety forces. Please take some time to read this IMPORTANT LETTER regarding ALICE training as well as an upcoming full-scale safety exercise/drill to be conducted the week of October 24 with the Highland Heights Police and Fire Departments present.
On another note, the excitement is building as we prepare for Walk-a-Thon 2022 next Friday, October 21! We are so grateful to our PTO for organizing this event, and thank you in advance to all of our families who support it in any way. It is a wonderful community builder and a much-anticipated event each year!
Students recently completed their Walk-a-Thon Lap Contest with many students spending two weeks of their recess time walking laps. Students will earn bronze, silver, and gold medals for their efforts, and the homeroom with the most laps will receive the very coveted Golden Shoe Award! Thank you to Mrs. Grace Powell and Mrs. Julie Seline who organized the lap walking at recess and to all the parents who volunteered to count laps during the contest. Special thanks to Mrs. Melissa Vogley, the PTO Walk-a-Thon chair, and to our parents, relatives, parishioners, and friends who gave monetary support to our biggest school fundraiser. Please say a prayer for good weather on Friday, October 21!
Finally, I wanted to let you know that I will be on a leave for approximately two weeks to help take care of my mom who is having surgery and will be recovering at home. Feel free to reach out to Sheila Klepcyk, our assistant principal, with any needs or concerns that you have.
Peace and blessings,
Diane Raguz, Principal

Rockin' the Red for our Guardians!
Brain Brawl XII at St. Ignatius HS
This past Saturday, a team of 7th & 8th graders headed to St. Ignatius High School to participate in Brain Brawl XII, an intense academic competition. Thirty teams from across the diocese competed in head-to-head question sessions. We are so proud of these students who represented our SPB so well: Caleb Gianzero, Maddie Mailer, Jack Quinn, Nora Spellacy, Josh Vogley, and Max Zalik. Thank you to Mr. Martin for serving as the coach and working with the students to prepare for this academic adventure! #SPBproud
Preschool Families: Mom-ster Mash Bash
Please join us for a night of fun for moms and their little ghouls and goblins on Thursday, October 27th from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in O'Brien Hall. Enjoy a night of Halloween crafts, games, dancing, yummy treats, and a costume contest. It's a great way to meet other preschool families while having lots of fun. Click HERE for more information. YOU MUST RSVP BY THE END OF THE DAY TODAY (OCTOBER 13).
Looking Ahead to Halloween
Halloween is approaching quickly and with it comes various activities. Our Student Council will once again host their games for grades K-2. Some lower grades will also have Halloween activities/parties in their classrooms. If teachers are planning on a party, they will reach out to their room captains.
As a school community, we are asking that parents NOT send in any candy treats for grades K-8. Should a teacher need help with something for Halloween, he or she will reach out to parents for whatever is needed.
Halloween Attire
All students may dress down in orange and black on Monday, October 31. Please, no Halloween costumes for K-8.

Ladies Guild News
Please join the Ladies Guild TONIGHT for our monthly meeting at 7:30pm. We will be in the parlor of the parish offices. Please park in the horseshoe lot off of Wilson Mills.
October is the month of the Rosary! On October 23rd, we invite everyone to join us for a special prayer time as we gather to pray a living Rosary immediately after the 8:30am mass. We will gather outside by Jette Gym.
Playground Volunteers Needed-Grades 7, 6
We are asking that each family (mom, dad, grandma, etc.) choose at least two days to volunteer each time slot being 11:10 am-12:55 pm. There are many, many time slots open! We are so grateful for the help!
Grade 7 families are asked to volunteer in October and Grade 6 families in November.
This is a great way for you to interact with your child and his/her classmates during the school day! Recess Volunteers should arrive to school at 11:10 and check in at the office. Duties will include supervising students at recess, escorting the students to and from the school doors. Volunteers will be with one school staff member each day to help direct.
Remember that after your two volunteer time slots, you are done for the year, as each month is assigned to a different grade.
Thank you again for your time and service to the students and teachers of SPB! Simply click on the following links to sign up: Grade 7, Grade 6

New servers may look to the parish website and train with the special Altar Server Training Video, a college project. Here are the dates:

- Tuesday, October 25, 2:35 pm in church
- Tuesday, November 15, 2:35 pm in church.

We are grateful to the parents for giving their children this opportunity that so many of us had when we were in grade & high school to serve at the altar of God. For those youth who are not able to make all the practices or any, please let Father Lane know and you may come on the weekends to “shadow” with a current server for “on-the-job training."
