Say Hello to Brian

Born : September 1. 2015

My husband is Logan and we meet at one of my uncles gatherings. I was always having morning sickness, so I decided to take a pregnancy test and it came out positive. I went into labor around one pm. I was in labor for 8 hours. My little Brian was born at 9:02. When I first held Brian, there are no words to describe it. Holding him was like holding the most precious thing in the world.

My first day with baby Brian was very important and special to me....those eyes looking at me, hearing him cry for me, I loved it. What I wasn't expecting from him was that he can cry for everything, especially at night. At least every two hours he cried to be feed throughout the day and night. Every one to three hours my baby had to be changed and then be put back to sleep.

One thing that did not help at all was my husband Logan. Logan wanted the baby to be in bed with us at night so that he or I did not have to keeping getting up. I told him that was not safe at all. I should him some facts from the internet, we could possibly roll over the baby suffocating him. Once he thought about it he agreed.

About two to three days ago I noticed that Brian was starting to have little red blotches on his skin and it looked like it was irritating him. I took him to his pediatrician and she diagnosed it as eczema. She said that it was medical condition in which patches of skin become rough and inflamed, it can even have blisters that can cause itching and bleeding, sometimes resulting from a reaction to irritation (eczematous dermatitis) but more typically having no obvious external cause. The doctor prescribed Brian with a crème that soothes the itchiness, also she suggested that I use baby Aveno. Knowing that my baby has this condition and will always have , We will just take it one day at a time

First time parents and realizing that it can be hard. Some concerns that come from first time parents is that they realize they can't handle it, all the crying and the non stop having to care for someone else. There was a recent report on the news stating that a mother killed her baby boy by shacking him non stop and this resulted in baby shaken syndrome. Another report was that a mother stabbed her baby boy because he did not stop crying in the middle of the night. Some parents cannot take the new change in taking care of another life. To prevent this from happening the parents should take care of another child, maybe a relative and see all the responsibilities that comes from taking care of a child.

How did you feel carrying around a baby for the past 7 days? Explain your different emotions.

  • Carrying around a baby was a challenger because I had to make sure that the baby was safe all the time and that the baby was not messed with at all. When the baby is a five pounder then you get your arm workout.

What were other peoples reactions to you carrying around your baby? Friends? Family? Boyfriend? Girlfriend?

  • Others thought that I actually had a baby when they saw that I had a carrier. My uncles reaction was to get mad because all they saw were feet and a carrier, they thought I had a real baby also.

What did you like most about this project? What did you like least?

  • What I liked the most about the project was that I actually got the experience of caring for something else. The least thing that I liked what that I was always on the watch for the baby and did not focus on most things except for the baby.
