Reading and Spelling
Reading helps improve understanding. The more a child reads, the more that child understands a topic from beginning to end. It can help a child find out the truth of something, too. Reading increases the understanding of the "rules of life", in order to make change, accept and follow the rules of a society better. To play well in a game, a child first needs to understand the rules well.
Words to practice for spelling: escape, measure, weight, friends and stationed. These can be tricky for some students.

Social Studies and Science
Since this was Fire Prevention week, much of our science time was devoted to this topic. Students reviewed safety practices (not playing with matches, etc), as well as procedures necessary to take in case of fire (calling 911, "Stop, Drop, and Roll" and "Stay Low and GO"). Second graders taught kindergartners how to use Kahoot on their iPads and reviewed these topics with them. Zondle topic for science is Habitats Chapter 3.
