COSI Columbus' Dynamic Hands-On Science Center
On Thursday, October 24, 2013, the STRIVE students in grades 6-8 traveled to COSI for a day long visit. We traveled through the Progress, Gadgets, Oceans, and Life Exhibits while learning through discovery and hands-on activities.
Math 24
The STRIVE students participated in the Math 24 Competition during the week of September 16th and put their math skills to the test. The students competed against other gifted students from Washington County. At the Intermediate Math 24 Competition, Emma Blickenderfer was our overall team point scorer. Emma, along with McKinley Goodwin, Samantha Hickman, and Carman Lucus came in 3rd place as a team. We competed against some talented students from Avella, Burgettstown, Canon-Mac, Chartiers-Houston, McGuffey, and Trinity School District.

Mandarin Chinese Language Learning
During the first quarter of the 2013-2014 school year our STRIVE students have been exposed to Mandarin Chinese. Chinese is a tonal language in which a word's meaning is based upon the tone that accompanies it. Check out the chart on the right and quiz your child on these tones.
Upcoming activities and events
MOEMS-1st Math Olympiad Contest will be happening during STRIVE class the week of November 11th. (November 18th-Makeup day)
SCRATCH-Creating and learning computer programming language while extending existing knowledge in STRIVE class. We will be diving into the Scratch program during the 2nd quarter of STRIVE. Grades 3-6 www.scratch.mit.edu
