Change Makers is back at Skyridge School - Message from Amanda Jacobson

  • Change Makers is Coming back to Skyridge February 2nd!
  • I invite all 4th/5th grade students to join the 8 week Change Makers Running/Walking and Wellness Club beginning Thursday February 2nd- March 30th. We will be meeting every Tuesday at lunch 12:10- 12:50 and Thursday after school 2:15-3:30. The Change Makers Club was created to promote a sense of well-being through exercise, positive thinking and building connections within the school and nearby community.
  • Students involved in the Change Makers Club will be walking/running around our beautiful Skyridge school and neighborhood. There will be at least 2 supporting staff members in attendance for safety purposes every week. We welcome any additional parent/guardian support. This club does not require fast running and we welcome walking as we build endurance to reach our goal of completing 3.1 miles on our last day 5k. We will always begin with a warm up followed by a topic discussion/lesson in social emotional areas such as gratitude, empathy, self-care, positive self-talk, self-esteem and goal setting.
  • We will also be inviting Change Makers in our community who are making positive changes in their lives and/or in their communities to speak with us. We will gradually be building mileage and students will participate in our own 5k (3.1 mile) run/walk and celebration on the last day.
